Did you know? Asian Palm Civet cats are the most common kind of civet cats. They are both arboreal and terrestrial, inhabiting a wide range of habitats. In some parts of their range, Asian palm civets are hunted for bushmeat and the pet trade. In other countries, they are also captured in large quantities from the wild to prepare the coffee Kopi Luwak. Civet cats play an important role in the ecosystem by controlling the rodent population and are prime contributors to the dispersal of seeds as they often feed on fruits, berries, coffee beans. We thought spas were supposed to be relaxing....? These Japanese macaque monkeys are known to enjoy hot spring spas, but their interest in them didn't come naturally. Property development in the 1950s forced these monkeys out of their habitats and into towns and communities filled with people. Legend has it that one macaque jumped into a hot spring to chase after an apple, only to be found relaxing in the warm waters.
