How do I give my employee money for healthcare/health insurance without it being taxable?
We looked into health insurance but we are a super small company and it makes more sense to be on the marketplace plans. I will just add it to payroll but I would prefer to do something that is not taxable for them. Everything I've found either passes it on as taxable income or prohibits them from getting a subsidy.

Looking to start a business with my trade experience
Hey all just wanted to pick the brains of everyone who has done it already. I'm an electrican, I want to open my own business. I'm planning on specializing on lighting sign and electrican installation and service. I know have to get my state license squared away and I have most of the tools for the trade. I'm missing missing a few high dollar ticket items. Iv always been good at hustling and making extras but it seems scary and different doing it as your Livlyhood. I don't know anything about taxes for small business or doing the books. I know how budget but I feel like I'm missing important things that an get me in trouble down the road. How does one plan and or structure to grow a business? Any good books yall suggest? Thank you for all the insight.

What book would you recommend every small business owner read?
I'll go first, I would definitely recommend The E-Myth Revisited. I just finished it and am looking for more suggestions!

Non-resident alien LLC: can't get a checking account
Hey all, I'm a freelancer turn LLC and I need a checking account for the business. Small problem: I'm a non-resident alien and I won't be back in the States for a while. My attorney drafted a banking resolution to give my employee in Washington the power of signing for the account, but she called a couple of big bank branches in the area and they all require the signers to be the members of the LLC and to be present to identify themselves. What do I do now? Any credit unions that would have us? Change organization structure? (None of the neo banks worked for us, sadly.) Thanks y'all.

Coworking space in a small town
Small town of between 10K and 15K, a small private college, but somewhat on the poorer side overall. Like so many, I now work from home and run a business that is doing very well. For years, I’ve wanted a coworking space so I could just get away sometimes, but the closest one is about 35 minutes away. A space just became available. 3000 sq ft, currently fully open space. Needs a bit of work but the shell is good. Trying to decide if starting a small town shared work space would actually be successful. I don’t need it to make a lot of money - just enough to cover mortgage/Reno/taxes and a bit to put away for maintenance. Anyone have experience in small towns with coworking? Not sure if COVID wrecked this kind of business or not.

When filing federal self-employment taxes, are state taxes considered an expense?
I own a small business that I started last year and is now my only source of income. I'm working on my federal taxes and got a bit confused when looking at my payment software (Square) and how they break down gross sales vs total sales and which number I should use to report my income. The following are made-up numbers to illustrate what I'm talking about, but let's assume it looks something like this: - Gross sales: $5000 - Taxes (at 6.5% for county and state): $325 - Total sales: $5325 - Total collected: $5600 - Net total: $5300 My question is, which of these numbers should I use for reporting? Should I report state taxes as part of my income and then deduct them from my expenses? I've tried finding this info on Square's help page, but it's not at all clear what's what. This is my first year filing self-employment taxes and I'm thoroughly lost, so any help would be greatly appreciated!
