Small Distribution Company
My business has reached its limit with our current product line for several reasons. At our core, we are just that - a distribution company which means we are set up to purchase, warehouse and distribute product. I’m wondering if anyone has any experience or solid suggestions on in-demand product lines for a small distribution company. We currently have 40% of our warehouse space unused and I’m looking to add product lines which don’t necessarily have to be complementary to what we currently distribute.

Are you for or against starting an LLC early?
I’ve been piecing together what it means to be a small business owner in California over the last two years (just before Covid hit) and took a course and mainly been getting info from tax professionals on YouTube. I feel silly for having these qs but not sure where else I could go for these types of small business questions: 1. What are the pros and cons of opening an LLC before it’s ready? (Not ready = doesn’t generate enough income to cover annual $800 renewal fee, or minimal affiliate marketing income) I mainly want to start early to build business credit and have access to funding. 2. Is the operating agreement specific to one business? Let’s say I go with affiliate marketing business, can I add or invest in another business once I have enough business credits? Is this what DBA is for? 3. What are your suggestions for the first 2-3 years of operating your LLC? TIA, HNY

Any tips for organizing Google Drive for a team?
We’re growing and my docs are a mess. New people don’t need access to everything and I’m having a hard time deciding how to break this up? Right now I have a shared drive that 3 of us have access to, but we are bringing two new people over the next couple of weeks and I’m trying to organize this.

Is it possible to set-up a small business individual 401K TODAY?
Is there anywhere I can set-up a small business individual 401K today for 2021? As I understand, the deadline is today, December 31, 2021. Has anyone had luck setting up an individual 401(k) somewhere same day? Based on this sub, I'd like to go with Vanguard, but it's not looking promising. Been on hold for over an hour (I tried this morning with no answer as well). Fidelity has manual forms and the CS chat rep said that "It looks like it would have to be set up today, not mailed in today, so it would not meet that deadline." I'm thinking I missed the boat on this for the year, but maybe someone here knows better. (fingers crossed) Background: SMLLC, taxed as S-corp, I'm the only employee, using Quickbooks payroll, have a lot of income in the business that I should do something with and retirement made the most sense to me. Thank you!

Balance Sheet question
Hello all, (If there is a better place to post this, please let me know.) I have a small rental property business...nothing huge, just a couple of units. I want to depreciate one of the units value for tax purposes (and it is currently way over-valued). However, when I put the depreciation amount into my year end balance sheet, the new total for Assets is way over the total of my net income and retained earnings. This has now totally thrown the balance sheet out of whack. I don't know what to do with the 'Liabilities' section when you put a big negative in the 'Assets' section like this depreciation amount. This depreciation amount has to go into Assets, right? How do I balance it in the Liabilities? I hope I was clear enough there...let me know if I need to provide any more details. Thanks for the help here.
