Octopuses are highly skilled in more ways than one! They’re super clever, great at problem-solving and experts at escape – they can squeeze through a hole just bigger than their eye! 🐙 https://t.co/p7hFIRYTsK

Some exciting news for Kern National Wildlife Refuge in CA! Last month, a male least Bell’s vireo was detected on the refuge during the annual Spring Migrant Bird Survey led by volunteers —it has been about 10 years since this species has been detected at this location! https://t.co/BfMPJzmI8e

Least Bell’s vireos were once common in riparian areas from coastal Southern California throughout the Sacramento and San Joaquin valleys. When the bird was listed as endangered in 1986, there were only 300 pairs remaining in California due to habitat loss and degradation. https://t.co/3h7pVjOHix

Fog castle, an edit made up of both sketching and photography. One of my goals for this year is to incorporate digital drawing and photo taking into a photorealistic image. Quite a challenging task as photos are meant to be detailed while drawings are more soft. As of now, I can draw background details but drawing the subject is a whole new challenge of its own. .@usgs biologist Dr. Barbara Kus collected a blood sample from the bird for a study looking into the geographic range limits of least Bell’s vireos. She informed us that the bird at this refuge is the farthest north a least Bell’s vireo has been detected so far this year! 📷USFWS https://t.co/FV0nzIjRWr
