One of the most disruptive moments so far Tuesday night came after President Biden said some Republicans wanted to “sunset” Medicare and Social Security, prompting loud protests from the GOP side of the chamber. Rep. Marjorie Taylor Greene (R-Ga.) stood up and called Biden a liar; others followed. Biden continued by emphasizing that it was “not a majority of Republicans” but that some of them were proposing it — after which at least one GOP lawmaker yelled, “Then don’t say it!” After some of the commotion had died down, Biden said everyone in the room apparently agreed that “Social Security and Medicare is off the books! We got unanimity!” Photos: Jim Lo Scalzo/EPA-EFE/Shutterstock; Jacquelyn Martin/AP/Bloomberg; Jim Watson/AFP via Getty Images; Evelyn Hockstein/Reuters

When the curtains opened and the performance began on Feb 5, the turntable set the dancers were on started rotating the wrong way, dancer Brandon Mathis said in an Instagram story, which was later reposted by a Harry Styles fan account. "We had to troubleshoot and try to do a complete piece in reverse,” he added. "Talk about professionalism.” Styles, who won Best Pop Vocal Album and Album of the Year, was criticized by viewers at home for parts of the performance. His singing sounded off-key at times, and some pointed out that he looked tired. However, in a TikTok post by a dancer named Dexter that was reposted by Pop Base on Twitter, they note that "Harry did his best to be able to walk and reverse everything while he was singing." Dexter also addressed critics of the performance, saying, "We were just trying to fucking stay standing." Tap the link in our bio to read more. (📸: Timothy Norris / FilmMagic)

President Biden is scheduled to deliver the State of the Union at 9 p.m. Eastern, amid a standoff with House Republicans over raising the debt limit, softening inflation, the lowest unemployment rate in decades, rising tensions with China and an ongoing war in Ukraine waged by Russia. With all the pomp and pageantry surrounding the president’s address, one might think its traditions date back to earliest days of the republic. Weirdly, much of the history behind the State of the Union is modern. Read more through the link in our bio.
