My kid tried to establish dominance by slamming her door, so I had to reestablish dominance by taking her door off its hinges. Kids, don’t play that game. Mom. Will. Win.

We are always focusing on giving the "best" to our child. No materialistic thing, no emotion can compete with a happy mom. That's all that a child needs. Every night before bed we have a dance party where we dance to M.C. Hammer's "Can't Touch This," but we have changed the words to, “stop, jammer time" instead of "stop, hammer time," because it's time to put on our pajamas, and I swear it's my favorite thing.

I feel like I have just been through a rite of passage!
Growing up I never had lego, I always wanted some and I would ask for it almost every Christmas but I never got it (I think it was too messy a toy for my parents). I have been looking forward to when my LO is old enough to play with lego. He's only 14 months old at the moment so we're still not there yet, however, for Christmas he got some Duplo. We've been playing with it today and it was a lot of fun. This evening, during the process of getting him ready for bed I was walking to the door and had a sudden pain in the arch of my foot. I looked down and saw a rogue Duplo block on the floor - I stepped on my first (almost) lego! I'm sure this will be the first of many, and future times will likely not be met with the same pained smile, but today I feel like I've gone through some sort of initiation or rite of passage :)

Every time I tell my kid he has to shower he says, “AGAIN?” Like, you know what, you’re right, skip bathing and continue smelling like an animal crawled in your armpit and died. Sounds 👏 like 👏 a 👏 plan.
