What is your controversial parenting opinion?
Mine is that American parenting culture is toxic and exhausting. ETA I mean the constant striving for perfection and moms feeling like failure for not doing BLW for example is the toxic parenting culture I’m talking about. ETA please don’t downvote controversial opinions, this post is meant to generate discussion and understanding not more polarization.

Not picking a side (BLW/Purees)
I genuinely don't understand the intense online disagreement between purees and BLW (not so much on reddit, more like Instagram and that). Baby is 8mo, I spoon feed fruit and veggie purees and cereals, and I also give her various foods to eat on her own. What is up with the strong push for one or the other??? 🤷🏼♀️

Ladies Whose Partner is an Amazing Father, Please Share Your Stories!
It seems like every day on this subreddit, there are stories from mothers who are at their wits end with the father of their children. From absent fathers to dads who don’t take responsibility in domestic duties, or don’t watch their children, or have to be begged to do the bare minimum, it’s making me lose my faith in half of humanity. It may be the case that people are more likely to vent their grievances on here, so let’s take a moment to celebrate and feel gratitude instead. Ladies, please restore my faith in humanity by sharing some examples of what makes your partner an excellent father!

Working from home & taking care of baby
Hi guys! Expecting a little one soon, considering the current pandemic situation and how quick WFH became a thing, my partner and I are looking into feasible options to raise our daughter. We are scheduled to both work from home all the time. I was wondering if anyone has experience taking care of a baby until 9-12 months and working at the same time, for both mom and dad? Is this doable? Thank you!

do other cultures not do tummy time?
My in-laws are from Mexico and every time I put my baby on his tummy they say "ay, pobrecito" and pick him up, which makes me wonder if tummy time isn't a thing in other cultures? But if not, then how would babies learn to crawl?

The concept of self-care gets plenty of attention, but policies that support it are still rarely implemented in schools. @ASCD @FemiSkanes https://t.co/e3CpmJwQjT

Less than 2 months to her 5th Birthday, and she got COVID.
Title says it all. I can't believe she made it through this whole friggin pandemic so far without catching COVID and less than 2 months before she turns 5 and is eligible for the vaccine -- FINALLY -- she catches it. I am so frustrated I want to scream. Thankfully, she has very minor symptoms so far. I am afraid for her - please let it stay mild.

Toddler has autism
I just found out that my toddler has been diagnosed with autism. I knew it was a possibility but the diagnosis still hit me hard. I feel like I failed him. Any chance I could talk to parents with autistic children? I need someone to tell me it's gonna be okay. Before I post this, I am not saying I'm upset that he is autistic. I am just worried about life being too hard on him about it.

Emergency hospital admission at 34 weeks…c-section likely…experiences/advice wanted
Long story short, I’ve been admitted to the hospital for preeclampsia. They are monitoring me but think they will induce for vaginal delivery or do a c-section within 2-3 days. They’re leaning towards c-section. I’m dreading a C because of the recovery period and how restricted you are. Anyway, my BP is down but not stable. Baby is perfectly healthy and doing extremely well thankfully. I have NO idea what to expect with a c-section. Also we are NOT prepared. I have all this shit bought for a vaginal delivery but nothing in case of a c-section. Please share your positive experiences with me and ANY advice you have! I am beyond overwhelmed, tired, and scared. Thank you 🙏🏼

Guilt over being a SAHM
I quit my teaching job last June to become a mom in October. With the rise of groceries and household items, we are now living paycheck to paycheck and I don’t know what to do. I’ve applied for remote positions and hearing nothing back. Going back to work would just mean my paychecks go to daycare. I’d be missing out on my baby for what? I feel so guilty. My husband works so hard and now I feel like I need a job. Anyone in a similar boat?

Anxious around other moms?
Hello! First time mom and my daughter is a year and a half. I have such major anxiety being around other moms. I feel like they’re judging me and it makes me feel so small. Does anyone else feel this way? How do you cope? Does it get better? For example, I just brought my daughter to the park and only one other mom was there. I felt like she was watching us the whole time. The way she answered “oh” after she asked how old she was. I was so anxious I was crawling in my skin and had to leave. I hate that I feel this way and I want to get better. Raising a child for the first time during a pandemic is no joke.
