For everyone who was sending money to the mom who claimed she had no food...

It was a scam. She took the money you all sent her and deleted the post and her account. I've been on reddit 13 years and pointed out this person's story screamed scammer . She had an excuse for every single suggestion with the exception of people who offered to directly send her money and items..

spacing out vaccines?

My ob is anti vaxx and basically tried convincing me not to vaccinate because she "vaccinated her daughter with 3 vaccines and regrets it immensely" without telling me of anything her daughter experienced and told me that there were cases of babies getting vaccinated and 48 hours later they died (this was after I expressed anxiety about SIDS and she followed up by asking me if I'm going to vaccinate my baby). This and some coincidental evidence I've found make me terrified to do a bunch of vaccines at once. Can I space them out over the course of a few days/weeks? Does that help in any way?

Are there any benefits to playing "baby" songs like "Wheels on a Bus", "Baby Shark", etc. as compared to "normal" songs adults listen to?

Childless men on reddit need to STFU about “their future kids”

Someone asked the question along the lines of “what is normalised that shouldn’t be?” And some bone head replied “young kids being handed a phone when their parents are in public” and had thousands of likes. One guy replied “hard agree, what are some hEaLtHiEr tips to keep my kids occupied in public when I have them in the future?” And the same childless guy responded “colouring books and markers, books, lego are great!” and everybody clapped. Sure, let me just whip out the colouring books for my two year old while I’m trying to get a blood test and don’t want him to see. Oh, i have to sign my lease at the real estate agency? I’ll keep my two year old occupied with Lego! You know the thing he plays with all the time at home and would MUCH rather play with it in public instead of running a muck? Returning a bunch of things at the post office? Here two year old, read this bluey book to yourself so I can focus! Idiots, absolute idiots.

Would you fly with 5 MO?

I currently have a 2.5MO. As you can see in my posting history, she has colic and although she is drastically improving, she is a sensitive girl that sure can SCREAM. My in laws have very generously offered to take us to a beach vacation to a family’s beach house in April. It would just be five us upon arrival. To get there, we would need two short connecting flights + 45 minute drive. LO will be one week shy of 5 months. I’m a FTM and I really have no idea what to expect at 4/5 months. She has changed so much already. Im so anxious about the flight, illnesses, etc. but at the same time, I’m really sick of this grey Canadian winter and would love to get out…. Has anybody done this? Thoughts? Experiences? Advice for an anxious mom?

Leaving baby in room with monitor? Tell me I’m wrong

My friend is on vacation and has a monitor that she can watch from her phone. Her and her boyfriend went out to dinner while baby was asleep and they watched him on the monitor. The restaurant was only a 2 minute walk away and baby was asleep the whole time. It made me uncomfortable at first but if I thought about it rationally I started to wonder how it’s any different then going to hang the washing outside? Thoughts?

Birthday party etiquette

So we're new to the toddler birthday party scene and I was wondering what's considered normal for birthday party invites. My older son (3.5) was invited to a birthday party of a kid in our neighborhood turning 4. We are friendly with the parents but not super close. Got an evite and was wondering if it's normal to expect we would bring our younger child (18months) with us to the party or if we should just send 1 parent with the older kid. The party is at an indoor play place. Is there general a accepted rule? Would it be weird to ask if invite was for whole family or just our older child?

Bath crayons seemed like a good idea

Ugh, somehow one of them went down our bath drain! It must have gone in at just the right angle. Has this happened to anyone else? Will it just work it's way out? The tub drained normally. I'm so upset this happened, ugh!

Car seat expiration

Partner is adamant that "Car seats don't expire" and I very much disagree. He wants hard science -facts and stats- that prove how and why a car seat can expire.

Parents of tall children do you find the BMI percentile calculator to be really harsh?

My 11 yr old daughter is 168cm tall and weighs 70kg. The BMI for age percentile growth chart puts her in the obese category and the weight it states as the edge of healthy is 60kg. Looking at the results of a general bmi she is just within the healthy range. My daughter looks to be in proportion and not what anyone would call obese. She is very broad in her shoulders, has super long legs and much to her disgust very wide long feet. So her whole build is solid. I have always felt she had a swimmers body, even if she didn’t have a swimmers coordination. Amy parents of tall children can you tell me did you find the calculators to be harsh and not accurate in representing your child’s height to weight?

When can I wear my rings again?

Hi all- When did your wedding ring fit again? I’m almost 3 weeks pp and just wondering when you were all able to put your rings on again. I’d love to wear my engagement /wedding rings again, they make me feel pretty. My hands have gone down a lot but they still don’t fit :( How long did you have to wait? Or did they ever fit again?

I finished breastfeeding today

It was definitely time, for both of us - wee one is 15 months and he was chewing me to pieces, neither of us were really getting much out of it these days. But still, I'm feeling pretty wobbly about it, like I'll never have a nice snuggly cuddle with him again. Posting here because I was talking to friends and family for weeks about planning to give up - now I have I feel really weird and sad about it all, and I can't talk to anyone directly about it without my voice cracking.
