Old school parents... And newer.
My baby is probably a high need one: she constantly wants to be held, and I was told it's normal during the first three months of life because it's the 4th trimester. Sometimes I let her cry because I am finishing up something and she calms down by the time I get there, but I understand it's a physiological need. Well , my family keeps saying that I am spoiling my baby and that she is knows if she cries I will pick her up and she will get her way. Ah, my baby is 2 months old. How is she manipulating me I don't know. She is little and she was born very small, so I get she may be a bit more needy. Things have changed from 30 years ago, and I know they mean well but I hate being told that I am spoiling my newborn when self soothing is not even considered this young. Thanks for coming to my Ted talk.

Disrespectful school principal
I received a phone call from my child’s principal about my daughter crying a few times a week. My daughter is in kindergarten and we have been working with her over this. So they wanted to set up a meeting with us but me and her dad were sick with covid and we are still having some issues with that (tiredness, cough still so on). My daughters principal had the audacity to call us liars and claiming we aren’t trying to work with them. She was a smartass on the phone and was blatantly disrespectful to me. And she is now threatening to withhold my daughters education every time she may have a cry and have me pick her up and bring her home. Should I contact the superintendent about this? I’m not sure or even what to say really.

How many nights have you spend away from your baby in the first year? And the 2nd year?
Just curious. How many nights did you not sleep in the same house as your baby in the first year? And in the second year? Our daughter is almost 2 and we have spent only one night without her. We don't really have a social circle or family that can take care of the kid for a night.

Appreciate the honesty in this sub
Thanks is all. During pregnancy, we got really tired of hearing nothing but cliched tautologies like "Your life will never be the same!" and "So exciting!" and "You have no idea, it's like a whole new existence!" We appreciated that bland support from friends and family, but reading honest and detailed opinions from you guys is MUCH more helpful and feels more like actual sharing. So thanks. Keep it up. Sending sleep your way.

I (37F) need some advice, badly.
Our kid (18NB) does absolutely nothing. They sit around in their room, they have no plans to go to college, they avoid getting a job, they go weeks without showering (the smell is overwhelming), eat most of the food, and they don’t help around the house in ANY way. We found that they suffer from depression and anxiety and we found a psychologist and psychiatrist for them and they have completely blown it off, claiming it was not helpful. They refuse to even do telemed appointments. (I had to stop driving them to the appointments because they’re an hour away and I’ve gone back to school and they won’t to the appointments online.) I talk to them about how I feel taken advantage of, to no avail. I don’t know what I am to do. Please talk to me, I need some perspective. (Any clarification you need I’m happy to answer)

At what point should we try socks again?
Haha my LO is almost 11MO and he won’t keep them on for more than a minute now. He’s not *quite* walking yet but close, I figured then we could try shoes over the socks. Also, are there any adverse affects of shoes on 12MOS? Developmentally? I know his little feet and leg muscles are forming and wasn’t sure if shoes would shape that, the *way* he walks and all.

Clearing out my stuff! [PA/NJ]
Green Drop does donation pick ups to PA/NJ. You choose from their options who you want your stuff to go to (I chose the American Red Cross) and schedule a date and time. Bag or box your shit up, tape a paper on the front with the organization's name, and they pick up from your front door. They picked up 17 boxes and bags from my driveway this morning. Now for you to just have the time and energy to clear your stuff out 🥴🥴🥴

Childproofing Has Me Stumped
Hey! Can someone help me with this issue we have at Oma’s house? My mom cooks with pressure cookers on her island the plug is on the side of the island. My daughter reached up to grab the cords and my mom is scared she will pull the cooker down onto herself. Anyone have any ideas to baby proof the cord so she can’t touch it at all and it can feed up the side of the island to the cookers? My mom is planning on using her other counters now, but the cookers do a number on her cabinets. If there is no other choice, we will stick to that plan, but thought there might be someone creative here!

How do you find the time?!
I’m a FTM of a 7 week old beautiful little boy. We’re mostly formula because I don’t produce much milk. For those of you who pump, how do you find the time to pump 8+ times a day, as they recommend?! Between making up for sleep, cleaning, cooking, feeding and changing baby, washing bottles and pumps, I can never find the time to pump more than 2-3 times a day. Even when my husband gets home from work and fully takes over until the night shift, I use that time to either shower, eat, exercise or clean. There’s never enough time to pump. HOW do you do it?!

Must have Baby items for first LO
Im having my very first baby although I’m only 19+6 basically halfway there as of tomorrow I’m trying to get a list together of what’s actually necessary and what I’ll need being a first time parent. There’s so many websites out there with hundreds of items but I don’t believe that all those are necessary. Asking anyone that’s had a baby or has taken care of one what you think is necessary and what I should absolutely avoid buying?

Scar
My toddler has a scar on his forehead from falling off his bed. Normally I would just leave it but it’s pretty prominent and right in the middle of his forehead. I’ve tried baby moisturizer but it hasn’t helped. He also has sensitive skin and has reacted poorly to harsh moisturizers/creams/soaps. Any advice is much appreciated. Thanks!
