It’s freaking awesome to have a clean house, but we also need to normalize a lived-in home. Dirty dishes are normal. Scattered toys are normal. Overflowing baskets of junk mail are normal. Clean laundry piled on the chair is normal. It’s all fine.

Other moms: You need to make straight A’s, be in the right social circle, participate in sports, dress well, sleep 12 hours a night, and always eat your broccoli. Me: Just don’t be an asshole. That’s all.

Masks Can Be Detrimental to Babies' Speech and Language Development. This is what is worrying me about sending my almost 9 month old to daycare. At home she gets to see my face and I know she is learning from that. Do y’all have thoughts on this?

Daughter is Away and I miss her!

My in laws came and picked up my 18 month old yesterday, and are keeping her through the weekend. I have been desperate for a break, she is my little velcro baby. Now that she has been gone for a day I miss her and I'm ready for her to come home. Sigh....

Just a single mum at her limit

Parents of reddit, please help and tell me I’m not crazy?? ... I have a 2 year old daughter and all she ever does is scream. Today I feel like I’m at my limit. She screamed at me for cheese with her breakfast, she screamed at me for simply trying to get ready and take a bath, went to the shops and screamed in her pram the whole time, screamed at me when I gave her pizza for dinner and then screamed for 1.5 hours when it was bedtime...It really doesn’t help that all I ever hear from my family is that she’s the most difficult toddler they ever handled. Please tell me I’m not crazy the parenting is just that hard??

Would any of you be opposed to the other parent taking child to urgent care or emergency?

I understand that some parents don’t have custody, but parenting rights... if the custody agreement says a parent can do what is necessary if they need to take child in case of emergency. Shouldn’t the child’s health come above all else?

In your experience, does a pacifier delay speech?

My son is 19 months and he’ll say things and understand a lot of things but it’s only 1 word sometimes. He hasn’t said mama in a long time, but I know he knows I’m mama. Actually, I’ve noticed a lot less speech ever since I started letting him have his pacifier more. All of his teeth were coming in all at once and I wanted him to have some comfort, before that I was taking it away unless he was napping or going to bed. So I’m starting to take it away during the day again and was wondering if anyone else had this problem? He’s good at letting me know what he wants by pointing at things, but that’s it right now. Or should I even worry about it at this point? Pediatrician didn’t seem too worried.
