I’m 14 and am becoming a father in a few months. I need help.

Hello. A few months ago I got a girl pregnant due to my own stupidity, and she wants to keep the kid. I love children more than anything, and I’ll always want the best for them, so I agreed to help her. The thing is… I don’t know where to go off there. I just want the best advice on how to approach this.

Ever Fed Your Baby Something They Truly Detested?

We gave our baby gerber mashed Turkey and Turkey brother and oh my god- he started off SO excited, opened his mouth SO wide, took one taste, and I have never seen a baby look so utterly, truly disgusted lmao. He practically gagged. I didn’t know babies could make that expression. We immediately whipped out some pears but he was so untrusting after that, he looked SO disgruntled lmfao. I feel a mix of dead amusement and guilt for giving him something he so ardently, CLEARLY detested 🤣🤣🤣 Have your babies reacted to anything like that?

Do kids ruin car interiors?

I have a baby and a second on the way. My friends tell me don’t buy a new car, because kids destroy the inside. Is this true? Do you have to feed them in the car? What else do they do to the car that wrecks it?

Is this dangerous?

I am trying to settle a debate here. Is it an unsafe practice to hold a baby in your arms and walk two minutes to a neighbors house rather than putting them in a stroller or a baby sling? And by extension, is it safe to take a baby out on a partly sunny 70 degree day for said two minute walk without a hat on? Asking for a friend.

Not all kids are into #sport, and that's ok! The most important thing is to find something they love to do. Once they become interested and engaged, it won't be hard to get them moving! How do you ask a parent you've never met if they would like to have a playdate?

My son is 5 and has a friend at daycare he really wants to have a playdate with. I never run into other parents at pick up or drop off so I'm not sure how to go about introducing myself to this mom! Would it be weird to give the teacher a note and have her pass it along? A super simple "Hey, I'm so and so, our kids are buddies. If you want to playdate sometime send me a text" sort of note. What do people normally do in this situation? My son is an only child and we don't have any friends in the area so besides the three days he's at school he's totally alone with me or dad, it's a bummer.

'The more attention you give them, the more attention they need' - do infants get used to having a caretaker's attention?

The quote is something my dad said. He thinks that giving a baby your attention makes them get used to it and that they then need more attention. Is this just boomer advice? Or is there any truth to this? I don't think that he meant that you should totally ignore your child. We just talked about the differences between my own upbringing and my child's. And he said that I definitely spend more active time with my daughter and give her 'more attention'. Does anybody have any insights? Thanks in advance!

Did daylight savings time throw your baby off?

It was a though week, pulling the 9 month old baby out of bed an hour early. It throws everything off and she’s incredibly fussy during the day. Nap times and feed times are off. Can we just all stick with the same time year round?

The key to effective homework, experts say, is keeping assignments related to classroom learning, and tailoring the amount by age. @USNewsEducation @Sarah_a_Wood https://t.co/1xjByD56i5

"Sleep when the baby sleeps..."

... so you can wake up when the baby wakes up 15 minutes later and feel even worse than you would have just staying awake!

The Classics... why?

I'm willing to stir up a little controversy today! What are some of the "classics" that "every parent" loves... but you don't? I can't STAND Goodnight Moon, for example. I find the inconsistent structure and rhythm difficult to accept, and I think "goodnight no one" is just a stupid line. It's an opinion I feel a little guilty for, because most of the parents I know adore that book. I also can't watch Daniel Tiger without cringing. I know it's a positive show about managing emotions, which I love, but I can't deal with the extra animal sounds after each line. Why does a cat have to add "meow meow" after she speaks? We know she's a cat! So those are two of my admittedly many guilty distastes that I've encountered as a parent, so here's an open door to share yours!

Toddlers need order and consistency. Toddlers prefer things to be exactly the same every day—the same routine, things in the same place, and the same rules. It helps them understand, make sense of their world, and know what to expect. -Simone Davies, #kids

How do you know what public schools your child will be going to?

We’re moving to a new home in a couple of months, and I know what school district my kiddos will be in, but I can’t figure out specifically which schools. For instance, in my district there are 7 elementary schools, 3 middle schools, and 1 high school. The ratings for each school varies wildly throughout the district. Do you get a choice between schools in your district? My son is only 2 now, so I’m sure I have time to get it all figured out, I’m just new to this aspect of parenting and am clueless on what to expect or what I need to do

Why must babies have fingernails

Anyone else’s LO seem like they’re trying really, really hard to remove all the skin on your neck, boobs, and face by pinching and grasping as hard as they can? I look like I’ve been mauled by a wild creature after every feeding and bedtime! Wanna hold my finger instead? NOPE. Here LO, try these nice mitts. Mom, please. Sigh.
