āMom Instagramā culture is exhausting.
So many expensive courses. So much performative relatability in the name of selling you said expensive courses (a messy āmom bunā is not a personality trait!). So much āitās basically your fault your toddler will only eat blueberries and air.ā āYou got this, Mama!ā OK, but can I also get affordable childcare and paid maternity leave?

Who else sleeps apart from their partner during the newborn stage?
My LO is 4 weeks old and for the past 2 weeks weāve been sleeping in the guest room after my husband went back to work. Since LO is EBF I first figured why not since I need to get up to feed anyways but now I feel like Iām starting to resent my husband since Iām alone all day and night with the baby. My husband is a great partner but he doesnāt seem in a rush to welcome us back to the master suite ā¦ anyone else relate? If you did sleep apart when did you come back together again?

Where do you change baby once they outgrow the changing table?
My son is nearly 10 months old and too tall and wriggly to be changed safely on his table any more. I want to change him on the floor or in his cot, but what do I change him on? Every "extra large" changing mat is barely bigger than the one he uses now. Help!

"tEacH y0UR ChiLdRen t0 ChAse wATerFalLs, n0t wIfI!"
saw this on Instagram this morning. Why do people feel the need to be self-righteous and condescending when it comes to raising kids? First of all, we don't all have waterfalls in our backyards, Linda. Second off all, can people just stop acting like our kids will all be doomed because they watched a bit of screentime instead of going outside on these awesome adventures every second of every day? Or because their parents scrolled their phones for 10 minutes instead of paying attention to them? It's really not the end of the world, seriously. I think it's hilarious that the older generation who literally had the motto of "kids are to be seen and not heard" are really criticizing our parenting and use of technology. I get that it's another issue entirely to stick your kid infront of a screen 24/7, but the majority of us are actually trying our best, and still give our kids plenty of opportunity to play in the fresh air and be kids.

Old people at the Walmart. A mild annoyance.
I was loading my groceries. Little man was sitting in the cart seat. Having a good time with an unopened bag of something. An older couple walks by and the lady says "look at that handsome boy! So young and sitting up so well." I then told her that he was actually about to turn 1 this week. She looks at me and says "he was premature then." Her tone implied that she was educating me on something I didn't already know. What happened to the sweet southern tone? What an odd thing to say. He was 3 weeks early but he's not tiny. He's completely average on the full term growth chart actually.

Enjoy it while you can!
Has anyone noticed that if you don't say something positive about your kids (like if it's a negative statement at all) people immediately throw the "enjoy it while it lasts" thing in your face? My examples are: "Yeah I have 2 kids I really have my hands full!" "well just make sure you enjoy every minute of it" Or "He always back washes in my drinks when I share with him" "Oh he's just a kid enjoy it while it lasts" It's almost like I'm expected to say anything negative. I notice it partially with other generations, anyone else?

Grandparent grievances
Does anyone else's parents or in-laws cry back to the baby or mimic their sounds? Both my mom and MIL do this and I feel like it 1.spurs the baby on and 2. stresses me out more plus makes me milk. Anyone?

There is a āsensitive periodā for naming things . . . and if adults respond to the hunger for words in an appropriate way, they can give their children a richness and precision of language that will last a lifetime. -Dr. Silvana Montanaro, #parentalsage
