Kind of a weird question about dressing alternative.
So my 12 year old decided she wants to start dressing in an alternative/emo/E-girl style. I have no issue with that of course, she’s always been free to dress how she chooses.. but I was kind of having a thought about it afterwards. The people who dressed this way when I was in school were usually depressed, would cut and would talk about suicide a lot. Please don’t attack me, this is obviously a learning moment. But does this mean she’s depressed? It just makes me worry, especially with the pandemic isolation. I’m sorry if this is a stupid question.

Multilingualism at home
I am very new to reddit and need some advice on teaching/talking to children in multiple languages. What would be the appropriate number of languages to start with? (With an infant/toddler)And when to add a new language? Would it be beneficial to get them fluent in one/two languages first (native + English) or should one stick to just one language? If more info is needed, please let me know. Thanks.

Managing technology use at home can be a tricky issue for many #parents. Leading by example is one of the most powerful ways to influence your child's behaviour - Áine Lynch, of @NPCPrimary, has helpful advice on modelling good behaviour. #OnlineSafety #DigitialCitizenship https://t.co/yjsrYStwCs

Why is my 1.5 yr old suddenly waking up so early?
Nothing has changed and he's been taking 1 nap for a few months already. His average wake up time would be 7.30am, nap from 11.30am-1.30pm & bed time at 7.30pm. Now he's not even making it to 7am. The earliest he's woken up is 6am but on average 6.30 am. What can I do I thought it might be overtiredness but these past couple of days I was extra precise on timing his naps/sleep time and it doesn't seem to make a difference. Since his naps are 2hrs I thought cutting it to 1 or 1/2 but that's only going to make his bedtime earlier or get him too tired. Any suggestions?

At first sight, that dorm room bed will just be a low-quality mattress with a simple wood frame that looks like all of the other beds on the floor. But it’s so much more than that. It’s the beginning of the rest of his life. @FruitLoopKeeper #collegebound https://t.co/ydu2CreNrk

Talking about your own death
So my daughter is turning 7 in June and she’s said it sporadically from the age of 5 but lately it feels like she is talking about it everyday. She hugs me aggressively and says how much she loves me and says over and over that she doesn’t want me to die. I have no terminal illness that I know of, I think I’m pretty healthy and I don’t have a dangerous job. I don’t think we have talked that much about death, maybe about daddy killing the fish he caught or when our aquarium fish have died and last year my uncle died and she saw me cry as I watched the funeral online but it’s not like it’s been a big part of her life, at least I don’t think so. This evening she said if I were to die, she would also want to die so she could be with me in the sky. We aren’t religious and she has never been to church, I don’t think we have philosophised about life after death with her. I guess I want to know if this is normal and how do I talk about this with her?

standardizing testing in kindergarten...is it a load of bunk?
What does it mean if your kid scored 90% in math or reading? Is that a good indication of where your kid stands in general or what? I don't really understand how they score these things. Like when someone says your reading is at level F how am i supposed to know that's good?

I left my 8 year at home... am I a bad mom?
We live in an apartment and our mailroom is on the other side of the apartment. I left my 8 year old in the house to take the trash out and check the mail. I told him to not open the doors and not go outside and I’d be back in 5 minutes. I come back albeit 10-12 minutes later and he’s frantically crying in a panic. He said he was scared and he tried to call and text me from my iPad. I feel awful. Obviously I won’t be leaving him at all for the foreseeable future but is 8 really that young to check the mail and leave him inside?

How to make coparenting work long distance?
I have been thinking about moving to another state for some time, the only problem is; my daughter’s father and I coparent. Our daughter is only 1 right now so I’m not sure if it’s too early to think about moving to another state as well. I live in NY and feel it is just too expensive and there’s nothing here for us either. My family is toxic so we don’t really speak with them and my daughter’s father has the same issue. Any parents with experience with this? And how did you make it work? My only concern is not seeing my daughter for long periods of time. Her father is very much in her life, and he sees her 3 days a week.
