Today my wife explained something to me I can't believe I never figured out on my own.

My wife and I were talking about stress from work and being patient with the kids/making sure you don't bring your work stress home with you. And she said something I can't believe never clicked for me previously regarding how kids express emotions. " I just try to remember that a toddler usually isn't going to tell you they had a hard day, they're just going to ask 'Can you play with me?' " So for the days I get home and just want to sit down, now I'm sure to always say yes when he asks me to play with him. Especially because during the week our interaction is naturally limited by work/sleeping schedules. Anyways the comment stuck with me, wanted to share as its a nice thing to remember from time to time.

My daycare freaked out that I sent chicken soup for my daughter’s lunch?

My daughter who just turned one started daycare (part time) a few weeks ago. It’s a home daycare run by a lady and her husband. The other day I packed my daughter some chicken soup for lunch. The lady called me on my cell phone while I was driving. She never calls me (only text) so I was worried maybe my daughter was feeling sick or something. She called to ask what I packed for my daughter’s lunch. I said chicken soup and she said “non-vegetarian” food is not permitted at their daycare and they thought they had conveyed it to us. All they told us casually in conversation was that they are vegetarians. They are very religious too so I guess my bringing meat into their homes offended them. They also later told my husband they are certified pediatric assistant and that pediatricians recommend children don’t eat meat until they are 2 or 3 because it is heavy on their stomachs.

AITA: refusing to let antivaxxer extended family see our kid?

My husband’s aunt has declined to get a Covid vaccine. We’re in the UK - it’s free and has been easily available to her for months. Now we are allowed to travel more widely, we are planning a trip to visit near to her (primarily to visit my husband’s grandparents in the area as they don’t travel so well). We’ve told her that we don’t want her to see our unvaccinated three year old if she hasn’t been vaccinated. Are we being unfair?

"You can make more friends in two months by becoming interested in other people than you can in two years by trying to get other people interested in you." - Dale Carnegie Same applies to kids. We must REACH them with genuine caring before we can TEACH them.

🍓Simple, yet delicious, Strawberry Oatmeal Bars are like a Nutri-Grain Bar with fresh fruit in the mix! They have a moist base and a bit of lemon for really nice flavor. We like them for breakfast and snack (and you can even freeze some for later). ⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀ 👉🏻Get the recipe through the link in my yummytoddlerfood profile. Tap the link and click this image. ⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀ I found strawberries on super sale last week for $1.88 a quart and immediately made these with some of them 🙌🏻 ⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀ (There’s allergy info in the Notes section of the recipe for anyone who needs it!) ⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀ #toddlerfood #snackbar #oatmealbar ⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀ https://www.yummytoddlerfood.com/strawberry-oatmeal-cookie-bars/

The secret of outdoor napping is to dress for the weather, as it’s not good for the baby to be too hot or too cold. Dress the baby the way you would dress yourself, and don’t double up on everything just because you’re dressing a child. -Linda K. McGurk #ParentingTips #unschool
