Does chickenpox vaccine provide long term immunity vs catching chickenpox?

I’m considering getting my toddler vaccinated against chickenpox. It’s not part of the regular childhood immunisations where I live so would have to pay to do this privately. I’ve heard that immunity isn’t as good / long lasting from the vaccine compared to actually having chickenpox illness, does anyone have any sources I can look at to see if this is true? Especially keen to know if it would affect her in later life as I know it can be dangerous in pregnancy if you haven’t already had it and don’t know if the vaccine would be sufficient exposure to prevent issues if she were exposed when pregnant?

5YO calling me out and making me question my own parenting

She told me it feels like I don’t love her or her siblings when I get upset with them. She said I need to give everyone more chances and then they will be good. 😵‍💫 (She’s talking about when I occasionally put them in time out) Just pull at my heart strings, why don’t you?! She is very inquisitive, but I swear I question my parenting ability every single day. 😂

Glasses

My daughter threw my glasses off my face scratching the lens. I can’t get them repaired. My script is expired and I have no backups…I normally get two pairs but I tried contacts last time around with no luck so now I’m screwed. When the receptionist at the eye clinic tried to put my info in the computer said only my husband was covered under our vision plan. My husband called our insurance and they say everything is ok on their end. Basically they don’t want to do their fucking jobs. The office I tried takes our plan, so that can’t be the issue. I tried another office thinking maybe it was a computer issue or incompetent employees. Nope. Same problem occurred. I just want fucking new glasses goddamn it!!

How many gifts do you give your kid for their birthday?

How many gifts did you get on your Bday when you were a child? Age like 4-13. Not a baby/toddler but also not a teenager. My DH and I come from very different gift giving cultures and I can't wrap my head around it. I'd get 1-3 gifts as a kid, he'd get 8-15 gifts. Both of us were happy. So when he wants to give a million things to our kid I'm just confused and frustrated. I'd love to see what others have experience with in this regard.

Breastfeeding: MSPI and other protein intolerances/allergies

What causes babies to be intolerant or allergic to cow's milk and soy proteins? Do other proteins function the same why? Why are those foods so allergenic? How does it pass through mom's body and into the breastmilk? How is the protein digested by baby? Any and all information welcome, including those anecdotal 'my baby was fussy when I ate fried food' comments.

The more fun we have, the more she has a fit when it’s time to leave

It’s never enough for my 5 year old. We can spend hours at the park and she will still argue with me when it’s time to leave. it ruins the mood and she even acts like her whole day was ruined because we had to leave. i’m tired of her doing this everytime. Do your kids do this? How do you get them to stop whining about this?

Feeding to sleep?

Does anybody else exclusively feed their baby to sleep? My daughter will not go to sleep without me feeding her (EBF) unless we’re in the car/pram. I really don’t mind it at all, but if I try to settle her any other way (patting, rocking etc.) she just cries. It’s fine just now while she’s still so young, but I’m worried that nobody else will ever be able to get her to sleep & that I’ll never be able to leave her until I stop feeding 😅 She’s 12 weeks old.

making childhood magical

What are some simple ways you have made childhood more magical for your children? I saw a video where someone took their kids to the beach and planted souveneir shop seashells for their kids to find. Interested in similar inspiration or any other ways to break up the mundane and enjoy my life with my kid more deeply

Where can I post that I have some formula I want to send someone who needs it?

My bro was asking for a friend who has twins that needed formula. I found what they were looking for but they found a bunch and don’t need it. I have two containers I want to send to someone. Where/how can I connect with someone who needs it?
