What are the things you never tell your children that your parents used to tell you?
My parents always said that I’m the reason they were never able to save money. I have been out of their house for 11 years and that still have no savings. I will never blame my child about my inability to get my finances straight.

Update: my kid wont sleep.
SHE IS ASLEEP WITHOUT WHINING AND FIGHTING AND IT IS ONLY 8PM. What worked (today anyway): kept her up half an hour longer. Discussed her day. Nightlight. The promise of a sticker if she goes to bed nicely (the extended bribe kind: 5 stickers = a small gift from the dollar store) Celebrate! I have two whole hours to myself!

Small ask for soon to be 9 y/o
Bromos, my daughter’s father sadly passed away Saturday morning. Her 9th birthday is the day after Father’s Day and she’s high functioning autistic. She absolutely is struggling with overwhelming emotions. I’m trying to come up with anything to make her special for her birthday on the 20th. She absolutely loves to read and loves birthday cards. Would anyone be willing to send her a birthday card? I am happy to share a PO Box if people are willing. Thank you for taking the time to read. Victoria J. PO Box 430 Perkasie, PA 18944

"Dr Daisy" is an A-hole
I popped a rib out of place while playing with my 3.5 year old daughter on Saturday and have been icing it on the couch after breakfast in the morning before we play. Every morning, daughter grabs her doctor kit and becomes "Dr Daisy" (her name isn't Daisy so I find this character name hilarious) and does her thing with her Dr glasses on and stethoscope around her neck. This morning, Dr Daisy decided to finish my treatment by instructing me to "close my eyes and rest" then jump sit with all 35 lbs of weight directly on the ice pack/my rib. She keeps asking when we can play, girl - you're playing by yourself for a while. Kids are fun 😶.

Healthy eating options/tips to encourage healthy eating?
Me and my gf are trying to encourage healthy eating for our kids early (son at 13 months and daughter who recently turned 2) We are still young (17) but we can have our parents pick up food from the store so are there any particular methods for getting them to accept or even enjoy healthier options? Or better yet specific foods/meals which have worked for others?

One of my first thoughts is, “That could be us.” These things aren’t happening to other people. They’re happening to people who could be us. Here's how our family is trying to cope. @TryHardMommy #GunViolence #family https://t.co/7A9rIqpH1d

Parenting hack
I am not a type A kind of person, I’m very much an on demand parent, tracked diapers etc. for all of the 10 hours we were in the hospital. I’m not the type to ‘log’ anything or have a schedule, nor am I one to fill in baby books etc, because honestly who has time for that? BUT I have written all of our LO’s firsts on our usual kitchen calendar. First smile, jot it on the calendar in between my husbands dentist appt and my dogs working tablet reminder. Rolled over for the first time, there it is March 6th on the calendar. She said her first word today ‘dada’ and so on it goes - it’s been super nice and low maintenance way to recording these little milestones and particularly helpful when the pediatrician asks if she’s starting doing xyz Thanks humble calendar for making me feel at least I tiny been organised!

People Avoiding You Now That You’re A Parent
Is this normal? How do you deal with it when there’s no local mom groups. I’ve been feeling like this and idk if I’m just simply being irrational or if this is normal.

Need help facing Pap smear
I’m looking to reinforce the idea that Pap smears are no big deal, quick, do not hurt, and nothing bad will happen during them. I am a normal, rational, totally sane adult otherwise, but for whatever god forsaken reason, Pap smears (or anything of the sort) terrify me. It doesn’t get better after having children, only slightly worse. Unless there is some way you guys know of that I can get the same cancer screening effect without a Pap, I have to do it this week. Please tell me how easy and painless it is so I can psyche myself up and not freak out. Even the thought of it makes me tense up and want to cry.
