Having a baby exposed the shortcomings in our relationship
You know how they say having a baby fixes a relationship? Couldn't be far from the truth. Although that's not why we had a baby, but I realize my relationship with my husband is at it's worst. My husband didn't care for me during the pre-birth hospital stay, the very traumatic birth and preeclampsia and the debilitating pain from a C-section. Thank God I had my parents during those first three months. I don't think baby made the relationship worse, it just exposed the shortcomings in my husband, some of which I can't forgive. I have decided in my mind to separate from him when the time is right. But on some days I can't help but mourn our relationship. Today is that day.

why are single moms frowned upon but single dads praised as "heroes"?
My friend and I were talking about this last night and I just can't help but to think it's because the world is sexist towards women and always will be. Like wow you're doing what women have been doing for fucking centuries? Congratulations?

In the U.S. an average of only around a quarter of workers have access to some form of paid family leave, and family leave is not equally accessible, with around three-quarters of workers in Fortune 500 companies receiving this benefit. @GreaterGoodSC https://t.co/Pm9nb8Vb5P

I am the only one with a non-iPhone, should I switch?
Weird question for this sub, but I have a good reason. Everyone in my family has iphone, but I have samsung. This means I can't FaceTime (obviously have Skype though) and can't use imessage. Without imessage, videos are awful quality and only 2-3 pictures can be sent at once. I'm thinking of getting an iPhone before our first is born, since we'll be sharing a lot of pictures/videos and potentially want to video chat with our family. I have been anti-apple my whole life, but it may be worth it for the sake of more easily sharing with my family. I am due for a new phone regardless, but deciding if I want to stick with Samsung or switch to apple. Has anyone else done this or considered it?

Toddler boundaries - fixing behavior vs solving problem
My boundary pushing little 2.5 year old boy has discovered our thermostat and realized he can climb our media center. I am stuck on correcting the behavior every time and just saying fuck it and removing the media center from the living room and getting a lock for the thermostat. The logical parent in me says I should work on correcting the behavior and telling him no, removing him from the space and repeat until he gets it. But I am so tired of that. I pulled him off the media center 6 times in the last hour and we are in a heat wave and he turned on the heater :/ Is it "bad" to take the cheater way out and remove access to the issue instead of correcting it?

what are you cooking for dinner
It's too hot to spend a lot of time in front of my shitty half broken stove (the oven takes forever to warm up, and you half to reset it constantly to get it to stay at temperature.) I am so tired of: rice & chicken & green beans, or Mac and cheese, or hotdogs, or French fries. Yes, my kids are 5y and 3y. They only want boring food It's also day 4/5 of 95+ deg F temperatures, I'm not gonna force my SO to grill. Kinda want a curry. I'd be the only one eating it though. Might do a lazy man's Pho. I think I can get my kids to eat rice noodles if there's no veggies in the broth itself. Meh.
