“Just you wait until baby starts crawling/walking/running” comments are the thief of joy.

Seriously, just let me enjoy my baby as they are on this day. Also, baby became more enjoyable at each of these milestones, not more difficult. Why does my MIL insist on making these comments?

I came back from a business trip and my daughter (3) said "Daddy, next time you go to Belgium I will come with you so we won't have to miss each other" and frankly I would have felt better if she had stabbed me.

When should a child be expected to dress themselves?

What age should a child be able to put their own pants, shirt, socks and shoes on? Is it fine for a 4 year old to be unable to do any of the above? When should I be concerned? Thanks in advance.

I had a rough convo...

Essentially my partner feels like he does everything and I do nothing. I don't necessarily disagree, it just really hurt to hear. I've adjusted terribly to motherhood. I'm too selfish, too lazy. I know. I can't do most of the night wakings because of a strong medicine I'm on. I try to clean, but it never gets done good enough. I get overwhelmed too easily and don't handle baby's meltdowns gracefully. I love my partner and my son but it hurts knowing I'll never be good enough for either of them. I feel like I'm trying as hard as I can, but I guess objectively I'm not. I don't know what I want from this post. Just someone to listen I guess. Someone to believe I'm trying.
