Are we just supposed to live in fear every time we leave the house?

Mobile so I apologize for formatting.. American here. We have a carnival down the street from us happening this week that my kids have been so excited to go to. We go down the shore for vacation in 2 weeks which means the boardwalk and crowds of people walking around. How am I supposed go to go these things or put my family in situations like that when every day there is a new headline, a new shooter, and new families being destroyed? I’ve almost always been anxious in social situations so I don’t know if that’s making these feelings of fear more prevalent or what. I used to feel safe cause I lived in a “good area”, but it doesn’t seem matter anymore. Is my worrying excessive? I hate that this is the world we live in.

Anybody else just straight up give up & give in to whatever the baby wants during a poopy nappy change?

Baby's reaching out to the box of wet wipes? Sure, go for it Box of Q-tips? Be my guest Victorian sword? Absolutely Block of C4? Just be careful, if that makes you stay still

When did you switch from a crib to toddler bed?

I didn't have any plans on getting toddler bed but we got one for free from a family member.

NICU baby and boob update

My boobs are making milk. Not a whole lot. But at least triple what I was making. I'm pumping every 2 hours and I go until my boobs stop. I think I've experienced let down. My nipples feel tingley. I'm also being awful headaches when I pump. And I'm hydrated. I've been peeing every hour. And it's high volume and a lot. My baby is currently on her air challenge, and if she passes she will be fed mouth. THEN she gets to come home!!!! I took a covid test because if she comes home tomorrow I don't want to get her sick. AND I'M NEGATIVE. Husbands positive still. His is faint though.

What do you teach your young child to do in an emergency?

My LO will be 5 in December, and I just had this conversation with family over the weekend. What do you teach your young child to do in case of an emergency at home? We've been teaching him our address and phone number, but what happens if he's home with just me or just my partner, and we become incapacitated and can't call for help ourselves? We don't have a landline anymore, so he would have to know how to unlock my phone and use the emergency feature. Do you teach your child to do exactly that? Do you get rid of your phone's passcode to make it easier? Definitely not trying to induce anxiety but obviously, I want to try and prep my kiddo...he's a smart cookie and will be able to learn any of this. I'm just curious as to what y'all do as well. Thanks!

Help with risk adverse 6yo riding a bike? Balance bike has been a failure

Like the title says, I’ve been trying to get my 6yo to ride a bike. First problem, he HATES things he isn’t good at and is quick to get discouraged. Tried the balance bike and it was a failure. Doesn’t want any part of it. “It’s the worst bike ever”. “I wish you never got it” “I’m never riding a bike again”. So on and so on. He even struggles with training wheels. His coordination appears to be worse than average, based on other activities as well(he does karate and we have similar struggles). I’ve tried bribing him with a new bike of his choosing, when he can ride his without training wheels. He doesn’t care.

Looking for an annual birthday gift idea for our daughters!

Every year for my birthday growing up, I received Precious Moments figurines with my age and cherish them today. I’m looking for ideas along the lines of those and Growing Up Girls figurines for my own two daughters that are a little more modern and mark each age or milestone. The main goal is this gift will be something different from the usual toys, gadgets, clothes, and they can value them into adulthood.Thank you in advance!

Why do some zip sleepers not have feet coverings after 9 months?

I've been buying zip sleepers for my babies from Old Navy and H&M, and my boys are huge, so even though they're 3.5 months, they've started wearing 12-18 month clothes. However, it looks like for zip sleepers, the ones with feet coverings only go up to 9 months. Is there a reason why they stop having feet coverings? Is there another inexpensive brand of zip sleepers that do have feet coverings for the 12-18 month size?

Fed or overfed?

so my almost 3 month baby is great, he smiles alot and for the most part is starting to get easier to manage. But sometimes me and the mom will argue because when he is crying and i cant figure out why(after he has had 2-4 oz), changing him, rocking him, burping. i go to feed him a couple more oz but my gf says im overfeeding him?

Doughnuts

I wanted coffee. I got delivery from our local doughnut shop. I’m not even a huge fan of doughnuts…but did I just demolish a 10 pack of minis and a Boston creme….yes I did. Weight Watchers is going great.
