What does your partner do better than you?
Seeing a lot of partner bashing. Let's be humble. What is your partner better at with baby than you? My husband is better at burping, play, and swaddling.

Very strange baby preference
My little guy is just over 4 months old. And he prefers to be held, but only if the person holding him is standing up. It's so weird. His dad currently has him in a baby carrier. If he's standing, baby boy is totally fine. But the moment he's sitting down anywhere, I'm the exact same baby carrier or position, he'll start crying. But once he stands up again, he's cool. This problem isn't just with the carrier either, it doesn't matter how he's being held. Anyone else run into this strange phenomenon??

Anyone else’s boomer parents do super unsafe things as we were kids but still kinda funny?
I just had a memory where my DEAF mom would have me watch tv in the afternoon, while she would go have a nap. It would be Sesame Street or something on cable, but eventually turn into a soap opera and I would have to go wake her up to let her know the “bad” tv show was on. I would have been 3-4 years old at the time. Just makes me laugh now thinking if something were to happen to me, she wouldn’t know because she’s deaf! Anyone else have a good story? Could use a chuckle today.

I miss toys
I'll never get to buy a my girls a toy for Xmas or birthdays again. I miss Melissa and Doug. And the toys and stuffed animals from Ikea. I once got a stuffed leek with a fake food set from there. Hot wheels and dolls and the dollhouse I wanted to get my youngest but couldn't afford. I don't even remember the last toy I bought and wrapped up. How many other 'last times' have I missed? I wish I could stop time. I wish I had taken more pictures. My eldest missed the smartphone era that made it so easy to take a picture. I wish I had worried less and been less grumpy.I'm here posting this today to remind everyone that every moment is precious. I'll add too; that those moments when you're frazzled and exhausted don't feel all that precious, and despite wishing for less of those, I know my girls remember more good moments then bad. And at the end of the day, surely that's what matters. P.S, I'm getting that dollhouse anyway because if 35 isn't too old to enjoy it, then 11 isn't either.

New Parents
So my wife and I had a beautiful baby girl on Thursday the 19th August, 7lb 10oz , her name is winter ❤️ As this is our first child, alot of things are racing through my mind, is the baby getting enough food? Is she going to be sick while she sleeps? How often should I be feeding her? It's quite daunting I'm not going to lie, there's so many different information floating around its hard to know what's right? I just wanted to write down my worries to get them out there, I need to stay calm . I got this

I think my parents are getting too old to safely babysit my kids.
It sucks but after spending the week with them on vacation I’ve realized how slow and old they’ve gotten. They love watching them. But my father(age70) is struggling to get up off the couch or pick things up if the ground. My mom(age 67) can’t hold the kids for more than a minute before she gets tired. My kids are 3 and 1 and I just don’t think it’s safe anymore. Sucks because they were really helping us out watching the kids 1 day and night/week. Need advice if I’m being silly and if it how to say it to them.

Best bicycle seat for baby?
Mine baby is pretty little still but planning ahead. I’d love to be able to cycle with him ASAP and wondering how to make that happen with the bike I have. My perfect “mom bike” got stolen, so all I have now is a road bike. I don’t believe a front mounted seat would work. I’m a small person, so the bike is obviously small as well, but perhaps a seat over the rear wheel would work. I feel like a trailer would be more awkward and difficult to ride with? Anyone have advice or product recommendations?

I don’t want to go to the park
It’s hot as balls. We just spent two days dealing with ear splitting noise and construction dust from having new flooring installed. Kids are behind on virtual school because they couldn’t focus during the installation, so what do they want to do? Go to the park. I just want to get our house in order, catch up on laundry then nap.

We have a Hand, Mouth, and Foot disease breakout in my house. Baby has it, and now I do.
My sister in law brought over my niece before she was diagnosed. She wanted to show my MIL the rash to see what she thought, and inevitably exposed us to it. Neither child goes to daycare. I’m a SAHM. I woke up with a fever about three days ago, and now have the blisters all over my body and face. Even in my ear! Baby still has the rash, but is happy and playing like normal. I’m still peeved that my SIL brought her over here not knowing what was going on. (In-laws live with us.) This shit sucks! Anybody else have this before?

Baby wants to feed all day
I'm a ftm and my son is 2 weeks old now and ever since he was born he doesn't seem to have the patience to feed for long enough and so he only sleeps for a short while after each feeding. This all leeds to him basically hanging on me all day every day and I never seem to have time to do anything else and I'm pretty much drained emotionally feeling like a milk machine for the little guy. Does anyone have any tips to get him to feed longer so he can have some real naps and I can feel like a person again??

The joy of a shower
Our 8mo baby boy absolutely loves a bath and always has. I’ve taken him in the shower once at the swimming pool but it was really powerful and he wasn’t keen at all. Tonight he had a party with his broccoli at tea time and when I say it was everywhere, it was EVERYWHERE! He smushed it into his ears, eyes, nose, nappy….. Our hot water was switched off as he wasn’t due a bath tonight so I jumped in the shower on gentle and had my husband pass him in. He loved it! He was laughing his head off, kicking his legs and waving his arms all over the place. I think we’ll be replacing a couple of baths a week with (much quicker and easier) showers!

COVID delta risk to school age kids
Wondering if someone can summarize the health risks to the 5-12 set of getting Delta, severity and likelihood (not likelihood of getting but likelihood of severe or long term illness)? Back to school for us is two weeks from now but I know in some places classes are back. Our two did fully online last year, but we're planning in person this year but somehow it's worse for them this year, which I didn't think was possible! Trying to make a game plan.
