Sketchnoting is a open-ended, process-focused activity that lets kids show what they’re learning without fitting into a teacher’s predetermined frame or box. @middleweb #Sketchnote via @carrie_baughcum https://t.co/M5RdPiG4cS https://t.co/8psMOfCACQ

Respectful mothers seem like a rarity here.

Both my mother and MIL respect every rule and decision I make for my daughter. Yeah sure I get occasional "why don't you try this instead" but the other day my very vaccine hesitant MIL when she learned I gave my baby the flu shot at first was like "oh you shouldn't have done that" and when I pressed her she said "no, it'd not my place, I'm sure you did your due diligence, she is your child". Anyone else actually have helpful and respectful family and in-laws?

He left the damn bird out overnight and now I have to trash it

I bought a fancy pre-marinated chicken as a splurge for Thanksgiving. It alone cost over twice what we usually spend on an average dinner, and we very rarely eat meat. I recently had a medical procedure done so it was supposed to be my special high protein lunch for the next few days. I even ate a smaller portion at dinner last night so I’d have more left for later. My husband “cleaned up the kitchen” after dinner and even put away a half eaten slice of pie but left. The. Chicken. Out. Overnight. I know it was an accident but I’m devastated. I was food insecure for a chunk of my life so wasting food, especially *meat,* is extremely upsetting for me. And I’m kicking myself because I saw it out a while after dinner but I figured he was letting it cool off a little more before putting it up. I wish it wasn’t Black Friday so I could go to Target or something and get away from him.

To keep the outgrown baby clothes or not?

First, I think it’s worth saying that I grew up with a hoarder and basically despise any sort of clutter now. I basically give anything away that I don’t use within a couple of months. That said, I just had my first baby boy whose 7 months old. My husband and I want another child in 3-4 years but no more after that. Everyone tells me I should keep the baby boy clothes just in case, but honestly I really enjoy shopping for baby clothes. I think I would want the future baby to have his/her own clothes anyways. Will I regret not keeping all these clothes? Should I just keep a few for sentimental value? What are your thoughts?

Highly recommended self care techniques

Here are some things I recommend today: 1. Buying new jeans in your new size that don’t bisect your post-baby belly 2. Believing your husband when he says he’ll clean the kitchen and not doing it yourself 3. Leaving said husband to watch both kids before he goes to work and sitting on the toilet playing on your phone for at least 10 minutes before showering, putting on whatever makeup you feel like wearing, and those new jeans 4. Nursing the baby lying in bed while reading books to the toddler and really being supportive when he decides to read to himself 5. Taking your dad with you to the science museum and letting him chase the toddler around and not even attempting to pretend to help 6. Maple syrup in your coffee 7. Trying less hard

Clueless about gaming need a system for 9 y o who loves MineCraft.

She plays mine craft at a friend's and she has Roblox on her tablet. Just trying to figure out what to buy for Christmas for her. Is there a thing like a handheld thing that I can buy, where I can buy the mine craft game. I called Gamestop this week and the girl was really rude when I asked this question. Just needing help. Thanks

I just have to say…

…having a cold AND a rambunctious toddler is exhausting and impossible.

Practicing gentle parenting

I have a 3 month old baby and have been practicing attachment parenting. I plan on using gentle parenting to discipline so I practice with my 2 year old nephew in law. Yesterday we had thanksgiving at my apartment and there were 2 situations that I was hoping gentle parents can tell me what they would’ve done. 1. Nephew kept climbing coffee table to sit and watch tv. I told him “we dont sit on the table we sit on the couch.” He refused to get off so i picked him up and sat him on the couch but he just kept going back onto the coffee table. 2. He was on the floor coloring and started coloring the floor so i stopped him and told him “we don’t color on the floor we color on paper.” But he still kept doing it so I ended up taking the marker away. Usually he listens so I don’t really have any experience with him not listening. I’d really appreciate any opinions or advice.

Five year old Daughter asking about my period products.

Recently my 5yr old noticed me using tampons during that time of the month. I've always used anatomically correct terms for body parts though she thought I was putting them in my butt. How do I explain things to her in an appropriate way?

Final Four Weeks

What should be done in the final month prior to delivery date? I am looking for prep ideas such as cleaning, car, etc. - maybe obvious but often overlooked things to prepare.

PSA - Buy an Over-the-Air TV antenna or Regular Programmed TV.

My 5yr old boy watches PBS Kids for his TV time most days. We usually watch it on our cheap antenna, but my wife has the app on her phone and I've noticed a difference in how he behaves with us. If she lets him watch whatever he wants on the app he is more demanding and impatient the next day. When we stick to the antenna he is more patient and less demanding. I am starting to really appreciate the convenience of broadcast programming with commercials. Except YouTube. Those ads are the worst. 20min ad for a 5min video! TL;DR - On demand content is ruining our discipline. You can't learn patience if you get everything right away.
