Telling my family to get vaccinated

Diving right in- I have a 3.5 year old and am 29 weeks with my second, due in March. With my first, we required that all family members intending to visit have UTD Pertussis and Tdap. We didn’t receive any pushback. It helped, I think, that my SIL was also pregnant and required the same of our family. This time around, it’s just me. My siblings are all looking to me to get this handled prior to them all having their first/more children, more so due to me being the shiny spine/war starting/oldest child. I am requiring that my family have their COVID Vaccinations and their flu shot. With a newborn, this isn’t optional for my family. I won’t risk my child because family members are idiots. None of them have any conditions (medical or religious) exempting them from these. I am asking for guidance on what to write to let them know that these are expectations in a kind, but firm, message. If you don’t support vaccination, I just….. I don’t care. Thanks!

I don’t know what to do about my mother

My son will be three months soon and my mom still hasn’t met him because she is staunchly anti-vax and her fear of vaccines outweighs meeting my firstborn child. She thinks the covid vaccine is a way for the government to control us and constantly posts about “sheeple”, despite my husband and I as well as my sister and her husband being vaccinated. We’re not really close because she’s been like this for years now, but it breaks my heart that she just… doesn’t seem to care about not getting to meet my son. I know she loves me and I know it would make her sad to never be a part of his life, but it feels like a disservice to my son and my family to force a relationship with someone who is so far gone that she doesn’t mind not being present at all for my first child in the first months of his life. I don’t know. It all just hurts.

How did you know it was time to divorce?

In the absence of physical abuse or infidelity, how did you decide enough was enough? What finally tipped you over the edge from wanting to make it work to wanting it to be over? My husband can alternate from thoughtful guy to calling me a bitch (in front of our kids) for leaving dishes in the sink. When confronted, he never apologizes, just defends the behavior saying that I don't make him feel loved or considered or cared for. There are two sides to every story, I'm not looking for "dump his ass" type of advice. I am trying to see if the types and levels of things he pulls line up with others calling it quits... Because honestly I can't tell what is normal anymore, and he makes me feel like everything is my fault and I'm the one failing.

It’s important to know the 3 types of #empathy. All are teachable. B-Behavior -compassion in action-is when #empathy moves us to step in & help, comfort another. Keep encouraging kids (& adults!) to DO, not just THINK or FEEL! #parenting #education #thrivers https://t.co/8Y6s3TSIs4

Hello, any good resources on treating covid (probably omicron) in infants/babies.

Our 7 month old just tested positive for covid (I had omicron earlier this week, so definitively cuaght what I had), he has a low-ish fever 101F, gave him a bit of motrin and milk and his subsided and he's sleeping now. We called our pediatrician and they are apparently swamped they won't call us back. Any advice? What should I be looking for? I bought an infant pulse ox for infants that arrives tomorrow. Anything we should be doing? Not doing? Is there a guide somewhere or something I can read? Thanks.

Is this an issue?

We were talking to a group of other parents earlier and the conversation concerning what the kids wear to bed came up, should they wear a tshirt or long sleeve shirt? Etc. My wife said that our boys sleep "like us", someone asked what she meant to which she said that they sleep nude. The group looked horrified and said that it was crazy. I have slept nude since I was about 5, our eldest wanted to "sleep like daddy" when he was around the same age, our youngest started doing it himself when he was 6 and said that he wanted to be like his big brother. What I want to know is, are we weird or is the group simply full of "pearl-clutchers" who need to mind their own business?

Savings for Baby

I would like to start a savings account of some sort for my baby so that when he turns 18 he has something to start life off with. It won't be much but something is better than nothing. I don't want it to specifically be a college fund because I don't know that he will want to attend college. What kind of account would be best to open? Should I use a traditional bank or is there an online kind of resource that would be better? Thank you in advance!

men and the grocery store

WHY do men make going to the grocery store THE MOST complicated task? you really dont need to call me 500 times to ask questions. use your own fucking brain instead of mine for once. please. i am begging. if there are no totinos pizzas left when that's what the kid asked for you dont have to call me to see what he wants, you're standing in the fucking aisle staring AT ROWS OF FROZEN PIZZA. im sick right now and my fiance literally called me 3 times in his 20 minute trip to the grocery store. Straight hair gone curly after baby?!

So I had my baby in October. Since then, my usual straight hair has gone curly (just at the back annoyingly) has this happened to anyone else? Just an interesting side effect !

… we have learnt from him certain fundamental principles of psychology.  One is that the child must learn by his own individual activity, being given a mental freedom to take what he needs, and not to be questioned in his choice. -Montessori, #parentingtips
