Don't you love a nice Martian breeze? This video is made of stuff from our space dreams! Our Perseverance rover captured incredible footage while landing in Mars' Jezero Crater on Thursday, Feb. 18, 2021. The footage from high-definition cameras aboard the spacecraft starts 7 miles (11 kilometers) above the surface, showing the supersonic deployment of the most massive parachute ever sent to another world, and ends with the rover’s touchdown. Grab your favorite snack and enjoy a front-row seat to Perseverance’s Mars landing. This video of the rover's descent is the closest you can get to landing on Mars without putting on a pressure suit. As an educator, I care more where you are going than where you have been.

On this day in 1906, an entirely new group of asteroids was discovered. These asteroids, now called the Trojans, travel in swarms behind and ahead of Jupiter as it circles the Sun, locked in place by a balancing act of gravity. It’s been 115 years since the first Trojan was found, but no spacecraft has yet visited one. Set to launch later this year, The Lucy mission will change that. More at the link in our bio!
