Friend is joining me in yoga today

It’s their first class ever. I’m advanced in terms of certain postures i can get into. I’m wondering if should hold back to not intimidate them. Thoughts? Thanks!

What is a posture you just can’t stay in?

For me it’s toes pose. This is SUPER painful for me. Not sure it trying to do it little by little will help my feet but no, I hate this pose. Cannot do it without horrible pain in the feet.

Ladies, how do you deal with ~air~ getting trapped after an inversion, and can I ever go back to my studio 😅

Aaaaaaahhhh. This morning’s practice was going so well until I came out of my headstand and my body decided it was time to let out a loud ass vagina fart. Can I prevent this from happening at all? I am mortified.

is once or twice a week of yoga enough?

sorry if this is a silly question. i just feel guilty about it because i used to be so committed to my practice. i used to do yoga once a day. because my OCD got hard to deal with, i took a long break and now i’m slowly going back to yoga class but i’m only able to do 1-2 times a week. is this still enough for me to feel the benefits?

Teaching my first lesson!

Hi! I’m teaching my first yoga lesson next Friday and wanted some general advice, not sure how many students I will get but the venue is large. I feel a mixture of confident, crapping myself and nervous, my lesson will involve a balance mix of postures, meditation and breath work. This has been a long time coming and really just want to move on with my life and do what I enjoy! So yeah any advice from other teachers or students would be great, thanks for listening 💜

Is Yoga cultural appropriation? I feel weird saying namaste and putting my hands in prayer at the end of class...

Anyone else has these thoughts? How do you deal with it? I don't mind the actual movements during class because I feel, apart from the names, they are universal movements, kind of. But in the end, when we do the meditation part I always feel weird to put my hands in prayer and say namaste. I have no idea about the culture where yoga comes from, I have no idea what yoga means for someone who actually practices Hinduism, I have no idea what that prayer pose means to them. I do Yoga to prevent back pain and to ground myself after a long day, but it has no spiritual meaning to me. So I kind of feel like I'm inconsiderate. Am I weird? Anyone else feel uncomfortable? Any advice?

Is it just me or is Ashtanga an incomplete sequence?

I mean as a yoga instructor and a new ashtanga practitioner, I feel that the first series is all forward folds and hamstrings and I fear that I will get the yoga butt. Every time I leave practice I keep waiting for that feeling of bliss I got after other types of strong yoga, but it never comes. I usually practice pawer yoga at a studio once or twice a week and only just recently started to go to this ashtanga place. The first time I went and did the led half primary I felt destroyed afterwards and my nervous system was on fight or flight all night resulting in no sleep at all that night. Do I hate ashtanga or is it sonething else? What do you think?

Self-Scheduled 7 Day Yoga / Meditation Retreat - Suggestions Please

Hey all, I have the next 7 days totally free and would like to take the opportunity to use it positively. I’m pretty inexperienced at yoga, more experienced at meditation but just wondering if you have any suggestions on how I could schedule this time based on previous experiences? Will have a Wi-Fi connection for any online classes. Aware it’s not as immersive as a real retreat but playing the hand I’ve got. Cheers!

I’d like to do yoga early in the day but I tend to feel more stiff then. How to change that?

I’ve tried warming up more but I just feel less flexible the first couple hours of the day as my body starts moving around. I’m in my late twenties. I feel like I can’t do the poses as well so I’m not sure if I’m actually pushing my positions to make progress then. Its like it takes effort to attain a level of flexibility that I achieve far more effortlessly when it’s later in the day. Looking for any tips. What kind of warm up might help, how long should I do it for? Or whatever else anyone can suggest. Thanks in advance!

Best time for yoga?

Hello! Recently I've started doing yoga as a part of my night routine and it's been so relaxing! I've thought about doing yoga in the morning too but haven't been able to get myself out of bed early enough lol. So I was curious when other people prefer doing yoga? Do you have a set time or change it up depending on what you need from the day?

I believe in altruism. No matter how capable a person may be, no one can survive alone. We depend on the community in which we live. By dedicating ourselves to the welfare of others, we actually bring about our own benefit.

safely returning to yoga after wisdom tooth extraction

Had them extracted yesterday morning. I'd like some opinions on when I could safely practice yoga.
