6 weeks in and I'm just as rigid as I started - what am I missing?
I've been doing yoga 2-4 times a week for the past 6 weeks. I'm a newbie. Before I started doing yoga, I was going to the gym 3 times a week to lift weights and use the elliptical machines. I started yoga because I was having pain all over my body including my back, legs, and hip. Yoga has helped me a lot in decreasing the pain. I attend a variety of beginner classes, because I get bored of doing the same routine. I sweat a lot during each session and I feel pressure on my muscles. Some positions were painful when I started, mainly the hip opening poses. They still are painful when I do them now. When it comes to flexibility, I'm just as rigid as I started. How long does it usually take for a person to become more flexible? What more can I do to increase my flexibility? What can I do to get rid of pain in yoga poses?

Ways to incorporate yoga throughout the day?
Hi all! I am a beginner but am ready to get serious about my yoga practice. I will be having a regular yoga practice at home most days but I also work in a small office with a lot of down time and I would like to incorporate yoga throughout my day. The main purpose for wanting to use yoga throughout the day is for grounding and to increase body awareness. It would be much appreciated if anyone has any personal suggestions or resources!

Keeping up yoga when experiencing severe pain.
Long time lurker first time poster. I’ve been practicing for years and for a long time experienced locking in my hips doing a few poses. The pain got so severe I had a hard time walking. After seeing doctors and getting X-rays and ultrasounds, they haven’t been able to diagnose me with anything. I’m trying to continue my practice but it’s becoming unbearable some days. Should I just stop practicing for a while? Limit my practices? Yoga really helps with my mental health and I don’t want to give it up. Any suggestions are welcome.

Pratyahara in the Modern World
Hi, I'd like some help around how to practice pratyahara in my daily life. What are some steps an urban yogi can take to advance with this? Should sensual pleasures be cut out as much as possible or should there be an attitude of dispassion? What does this mean?- to not get attached to the pleasure but experience it? Any guidance is welcome! Thanks

Yoga in a Skirt
Hi everyone! Since its starting to become summer I'm looking for some shorter bottoms to do while practicing yoga. I'm wondering if anyone has experience doing yoga in a skirt? I'm thinking about those workout/tennis skirts that are flowwy with safety shorts underneath. Is this appropriate to wear to a class? I find that running shorts will have a gap. Sometimes I wear [these shorts](https://www.ae.com/us/en/p/aerie/bottoms/shorts/offline-by-aerie-real-me-crossover-flowy-short/1706_1217_358?menu=cat1090003) to yoga -- which I'm also wondering if its okay because they're a little short. Any insight/recommendations? Thanks!

is it normal to feel like i’m getting worse at yoga?
don’t get me wrong, i understand that progress is a journey and there is no set timeline. however, i have been practicing for about 2 months now 3-4 times a week (hot bikram and vinyasa) and while at the beginning, it was definitely kicking my butt, i felt more solid then than i do now. after the first couple of classes, i was able to stay in some of the balancing poses without falling out, but now i frequently fall. my muscles have started to shake in poses like warrior and forward fold. my flexibility has not changed a bit, and whatever stretch i gain during class (eg. by the end of class, i can comfortably touch my toes) is restarted when i arrive at the next class. did anyone else have this experience? i’m completely content to keep putting in the work to improve and to be patient with myself, but i’m just worried this is a sign that i’m doing something wrong.

How can I start and progress with Knee pain/injury?
I have had knee pain since January of this year. I am unable to put weight on it while bent (putting weight on it while standing is fine), lunge, squat or go up and down the stairs. So, i'm basically not working out my lower body. I was just getting into Yoga and was really excited but stopped being physically active when my knee pain started. I do walk but walking long distances can also aggravate it. Can anyone share any routines that are catered to people with knee pain? Or any other ideas/advice/experiences to help me get started and progress with my Yoga journey? I really do look forward to getting better and enjoy Yoga! Thanks for your help.

Is Forrest Yoga really hard?
I've been practicing yoga on and off for over a decade. Before the pandemic, I enjoyed hot vinyassa yoga. For the past few years I have been practicing at home. I took a break from working out in general between November last year and early March; I have been easing back into exercise. I found a new hot yoga studio (my old one went out of business because of COVID) and started going there 2 weeks ago. I tried a couple of vinyassa classes and a yin yoga class. I'm very curious about hot Forrest yoga but I'm only now getting back into yoga. Is it too intense for me to dip my toes in it now? Should I build myself back up for a few more weeks before trying it? Really need some advice here!
