Taking over Small Business, asking for training/class recommendations.
Hi Everyone, I have been working for a Timber Framing company for about 2 years. I started on the field swinging my hammer and quickly moved into the Project Management/Supervisor roll. The owner is planning his retirement and I worked out a deal to take ownership of the company. I have been running the company operation with little involvement from the owner for about a year, so I know I will be able to continue my current roll once I become the owner. However, I don't know anything about the ownership side of things such as taxes, employment of others, insurance, etc. Does anyone have any recommendations for what kind of classes or training I could sign up for that could help build up my confidence in these areas? These topics could be the tip of the iceberg as I actually do not know what i do not know. I am open to all recommendations. Thanks in advance for your input.

Is it worth it to open a record shop?
I have been collecting records for the last 10-ish years and I have a huge collection that I've been thinking of selling some of. This got me thinking about opening a record store, maybe just out of my house for now (sell fully online) and then maybe opening a store in the future. I've been thinking about this for a while but some people have told me it's not worth investing the money in "this late in the game." I love music and collecting vinyls and would love to turn this into a business for me, but I'm wondering if it really isn't worth investing in. If anyone has some experience or insight on this I'd really appreciate it.

Selling off inventory?
I had started a small home based jewelry business many years ago then life happened. To make a long story short, I have 250+ pieces of Italian made high quality costume jewelry (think Swarovski crystals and high quality metals). I am now at a point in my life where I could use the money from selling these pieces. I don't know how to go about it though. Can anyone provide me with some advice on how to go about selling this lot to other businesses ? I looked on ebay and there was nothing comparable, it's generally lots of used costume jewelry that people sell there. Mine is all new, in packaging and are timeless pieces. Also as it was many years ago I purchased this inventory, I only have a ballpark number of what my investment cost was. Do I ask for that amount of money or should I calculate what the retail value would be and work backwards from there? Sorry if this is the wrong sub to ask but I thought I'd start here. TIA!!

Apprehension about going in to business with a friend. Thoughts or solutions appreciated.
A coworker and I are talking about launching a small business, and I'm worried about the complications of a partnership. We are considering starting a small marketing / ad agency. Both of us fulfill a different role, one as more of a project manager and the other as the creative talent. Do we have to make this an official LLC? Is there a way we could just each charge an hourly fee as two freelancers but market as one entity? I trust my coworker but feel like starting a business is risky enough without having to run every choice past each other. And having read general partnership feedback on this sub, I feel like my concerns are justified.

Hiring a work from home photographer, but concerned about liability.
I'm hiring a work from home photographer to take pictures of fairly expensive purses and jewelry. Any suggestions on how I can protect myself to ensure that the items are returned back to me?

Unit cost Square POS
Hey there. I'm looking into Square POS for a new small homewares shop we're opening and have a quick question. The free version doesn't seem to allow you to enter an item cost for a product - only the retail price. Without upgrading to the $60/month plan, is there a way to calculate daily profits? Thanks!

Private Practice Counseling Seeking Marketing Support
I shifted to full time in my private counseling practice and I'm looking for support in the marketing department. I've been trying to learn SEO and social media stuff, but it's not my skill set, and I have some limitations in terms of ethics and HIPPA. What are other counselors doing to get clients? How much time are you allotting to marketing? How much time did it take for you to get to a place you're happy with your flow of new clients? What are your targets for money spent v. clients attracted/retained? And, if anyone knows any local businesses that specifically work with private practice therapists to get new clients, I would love to meet them!

What exactly is and how do I get "Proof of business" from my state?
Hi all, I'm trying to open a business broker account with Fidelity, however they want a "proof of business" document and they did not except my SS-4 for it. They said it needs to say something like "ABC LLC has filed with the state of Pennsylvania and has been accepted' and it's supposed to be sealed by the state. Does anyone know what the name of this document is or how to get it? Additionally, they said they would take my operating agreement if it was "Sealed by the state", but I don't know how to get it sealed/signed or verified by the state. Any information about either of these things is greatly appreciated. Thanks!

Anyone owning a Driving School?
Hey everyone, I came across this distressed driving school with an older lady running it for 30 years. Now, she wants someone to take over and keep it going. Her phone is constantly ringing without any advertising, but she's struggling to find driving instructors and turning people down. I believe I can solve this problem and revitalize the school. Additionally, she offers in-person classes, which works well for Spanish-speaking individuals. If I take over, it will be an asset purchase, including the phone, website, furniture, and computers. If anyone owns a driving school, I would love to connect and hear some feedback. Even if you don't own one, I would still appreciate hearing from you.
