Despite being a dog-centric rescue, last year, @DCLuckyDog pivoted their lifesaving strategy to include cats, particularly nursing moms and bottle babies. They knew that their community and local shelters needed help and they had the passionate volunteers who could assist. https://t.co/E5q9o5MZEY

With the support of their eager and energized #volunteers, they launched their very first cat program. The result? 1,246 cats and kittens saved! They are not stopping there though! #Heartworms can be scary if you have never experienced them. Does Bonnie look nervous though? Not in the slightest. She may be heartworm positive, but that doesn't stop her from living her life in her new #foreverhome. She knows that they are 100% treatable & is all smiles! ^kw https://t.co/7ulJHn8qIK

No animal seems to embrace the idea of family like the dolphin. A group of dolphins, or pod, can consist of up to 1,000 dolphins who take care of each other when sick or unwell. On top of that, a dolphin calf will stay with mom for several years before going out on its own. Happy National Dolphin Day from all of us at Animal Planet! ๐Ÿฌ . . . . . #dolphin #dolphins #calf #pod #flipper #animalplanet #aquaticmammals #nationaldolphinday #dolphinday #earthmonth #videooftheday

Dragon blood tree, a magical cure-all. ๐Ÿ˜ฎ Photo by danielkordan The dragon blood tree is a unique tree native to the Socotra Archipelago, part of Yemen. ๐Ÿ‡พ๐Ÿ‡ช It gets its name from the red resin that is exuded from the bark after it is cut. Many myths surround this rare tree. The local people use the resin as a cure allโ€”for healing fevers, ulcers, and magic and even a varnish for violins! Because of this belief that it is the blood of the dragon it is also used in ritual magic and alchemy and to increase the potency of spells for protection, love, vanishing, and sexuality. #WildlifePlanet
