When she took her first steps into a solo career, she jumped into pop and electronic music, bringing (of course) Carioca elements, like samba and funk. Funk was not recognized as a popular genre yet, but Fernanda fell in love with the beats in 1989, when she went to a party.

She wrote and sang classic Carioca songs like "Rio 40 Graus" and "Garota Sangue Bom", which are inspired by the city and its women, from the beauty of Rio to the urban conflict and social chaos. "It's a city of contrasts. Its exuberant beauty and nature coexist with its ailments.
