Did you know? The Fan Throated Lizard, endemic to the northern parts of the Western Ghats,  flaunt a multihued fan-shaped fold of skin on their throats. This is called the dewlap which males display to communicate, intimate, or show off. Though they fall under the “least concerned” category in the IUCN Red List of Threatened Species, these lizards need protection as they play a significant role in the ecosystem and as environmental health indicators.
