A few distant birds from a walk in Rooi-Els, South Africa. Most notably, the Cape Rockjumper (first photo). The Cape Rockjumper is listed as "Near Threatened," and it is endemic to the southernmost region of South Africa. I didn't great looks, but I did see two of them. For reference, this shot was taken on a crop sensor in crop mode, and I cropped almost 100% in post. Basically, it was far away. The second photo is an Orange-breasted Sunbird, and the third is another Cape Bunting. - - - #caperockjumper #orangebreastedsunbird #capebunting #your_best_birds #best_birds_of_ig #bird_brilliance #birds_private #planetbirds #africanbirds #igbirds #birding #birdnerd #birdwatching #birdwatcher #birdphotography #pocket_birds #birdsofinstagram #naturelovers #nutsaboutbirds #naturephotography #wildlifephotography #featheredfriends #welovebirds #nikond500 #nikon500mmf56epf #nikonnature #eye_spy_birds #birdbrilliance #yourbestbirds #audubonsociety

Red-capped Robin. I love the Australian Robin's. They seem very cool calm characters that go about their business of feeding. When I went up north, there were quite a few around. .. .. .. .. #redcappedrobin #robinsofinstagram #redrobin #birdsofaustralia #bird_brilliance #best_birds_of_ig #best_birds_planet #women_wildlife_photography #naturephotography #bird_watchers_daily #wildgeography #bird_gardenical

They are known as “butter butts” for their yellow patch found above their tail feathers. The Yellow-rumped Warbler's arrival into my area as the most numerous warbler means only one thing fall songbird migration is coming to an end. While they breed in specialized habits, during migration, they might be the most generalist warbler. They can be found in small patches of trees in a city park or along the shoreline, making them an underappreciated warbler, in my opinion. Also, this quote about them made me chuckle the other day. “As you age, it’s ridiculous how fast bird-watching creeps up on you. You spend your whole life being 100% indifferent to birds, and then one day you’re like “damn is that a yellow-rumped Warbler.” All birds are handled with proper permits and training. Never handle wild birds without them. For more questions about research, handling, or why we don’t show how we catch birds refer to my first pinned post.

Audubon board member @LiliTaylor contributed a birdy poetry reading to Volume V of #TheBirdsongProject. Stream her reading of ‘The cherries turn ripe, ripe,’ by Wendell Berry—and all proceeds will benefit Audubon’s work. https://t.co/RoH0QrkeKq https://t.co/RvT2XteDey
