New small business tax question

Hi All, We are just starting a new online small business and just received a bulk order from a real estate company who plans to give away the product and not resell. My question is do I charge sales tax on the bulk order or is it considered wholesale so I don't need to worry about collecting sales tax? Any insights are greatly appreciated. (United States based)

What are some courses or YouTube channels where I can learn to sell my architecture video service (niche clients)?

Hi! I'm reading some sales books but a ton seem to be more for selling a product like having a newsletter, keeping the emails etc. I have a architectural video business so my clients are either architects, interior designs, hotels etc. I also do photo as well but I think it's video where I really separate myself from others because there are barely anyone focused on architects and interior designers for that. I'm thinking about doing a bunch of cold emails just saying how I found them if it's from a podcast or social media and that I really like their work but I was wondering if it's too pushy for me to mention that I do video and if they are ever looking for that they can let me know. I tried that two years ago saying if they ever need a videographer but a lot didn't respond. (Also I'm much much better now). Just want to learn better sales tactics for a niche service. Thanks!

How many hours a week should I work on my new business with a full time job?

This may seem like a dumb question to ask. But I am still in the researching phase of starting a new business and I am having trouble finding this answer (amongst a few more) and I don’t know who ask this question of. When you guys first started out how many hours did you devote to get your business off the ground while still working a 40+ hr work week?

I need help figuring out a fair wage to ask for a family assistant doing household chores (not cleaning) and possibly grocery shopping.

Please feel free to link a better subreddit for this. A few families messaged me via a local work facebook I am in asking if I could assist in household chores. I am located in Bridgewater NJ, or central/north jersey. One family wants me to juice for them, meal prep, and do laundry/unload the dishwasher. The other wants me to do those chores, but also grocery shop, which I think justifies a higher wage. I think for the first family $20-$25 would be appropriate, likely $25. I think for the second family I should get at least $25-$30. I'd love any input on appropriate pay. the average for a personal assistant in NJ when googled is $17, but personal assistant to me usually means more desk work

Square Appointments won’t accept my biz

Has anyone had any issues setting up square appointments? I have an alterations business and have requested approval for several times over a couple of weeks. I have verified my biz on Google and looked over everything but it still says I am stuck in this, “requested” status.

Help! Packaging Recommendations Needed!

I am looking for recommendations for media mailers for an item that is about 10" x 12" x <0.5" (LxWxH). I have scoured Amazon and other big box services for mailers that fit my needs but continue to find ones that are either the wrong size, wrong material, arent strong enough. My requirements for the packaging are as follows... 1. Mailer must fit the document(s) (cannot be TOO much bigger to prevent damage) 2. Must be a "Stay Flat" style of packaging 3. Must be made out of recyclable materials \[ex. cardboard\] (trying to stay away from dyed and treated materials) I am struggling to find a good source for what I need when I know the product I am looking for is out there. Does anyone have any recommendations, suggestions, or links for what I would be looking for? (US web links are preferred) Thanks!!

When does VAT apply?

I have a company in Los Angeles and will be doing some engineering design work for another company in Spain. The product I'm designing will be made in China, may or may not stop by Los Angeles for testing, and then will be sent to Spain to be included in a larger product that will be sold. I wrote the company a proposal for the project, and was asked if any VAT will apply. <shrug emoji> Anyone have information in this area?

Insurance for non-US company?

Hey, we have a big online retailer in the US who is interested in re-selling our products. They've sent through contracts etc. and among this, they require a COI (Certificate of Insurance). We're a Swiss company and Swiss insurance companies won't insure us because we don't really do any business on Swiss soil. US insurance companies don't want to cover us because we're a company based outside of the USA and Canada. What can we do, does anybody know an insurance company that covers multinational companies without taking into account where they're based? Any tips or leads are welcome 🙏

Little help?

I'm looking into opening a sort of Masonic Lounge. However, I don't know exactly where to begin. I'm in Houston,Tx ATM and I think it would be great to do it there. I'm thinking along the lines of paid membership, but the membership also being private. Masks, robes and whatnot. But a group intent on making bigger splashes in their personal business realms. Albeit, I want to do it in a sort of initiatic way. So, what I'm asking here, do you think the idea is feasible?

3rd-party international shipping

Hello. This is my first post in this group. I am hoping to get some insight on some thing I have been trying to figure out for a few months now. I’m coming up on the fourth year of my business. And at the start of the pandemic I had to disable my international shipping. For obvious reasons I am American based and shipping overseas became a problem with the Trump administration. I used to use a program called “webinterpret” it was a horrible experience. But I did like the set up in which all I had to do was add a plug into my Shopify store and print out a shipping label and they would send my product to a warehouse and then add a different label to ship it to my customer overseas. Does anyone have any suggestions on a new program that would offer something similar with much better customer service experience? I greatly appreciate any advice. Have a wonderful day
