Hi all, as the title suggests, I am a logo and graphics designer, and this is what I pay most of my attention to. I do not have any negotiating or sales skills, so I often give in when negotiating with clients. I have never placed emphasis on developing my communication or negotiation skills, as all my time has been spent honing my craft. My clients love my work, and as a result, I have many repeat clients and referrals. However, there are times when clients ask me to do free work prior to signing a contract. Although I usually say no, there are those high-paying repeat clients who frequently negotiate me into offering free work as a test pilot project. Is this something I have to accept as normal? Is this common in other industries as well? What is your perspective on this, and how do you say no to such clients?

First year filing taxes with NOL. Google results/ IRS website confuses me. So, can Reddit help?

This is the first year my business is filing a return with a NOL. From what I read, it looks like I’m not going to get a refund for at least 90 days, or do I not get a refund? Does the IRS flag returns with a NOL at a higher rate than other returns? What should I expect? We only brought in 30k but made a lot of investment into the business and built our inventory up significantly. Was looking forward to getting some dollars back from our efforts last year. 90 days kinda sucks. :/

New small car dealership looking to increase income

I been open for a month and am located on a main road in my city. I am new to this so any suggestions would help. The car sales side is going pretty good but I will take some time to get any major return. What suggestions could I do to increase any income. I started with a mechanic but haven’t really had anyone looking for mechanics help. I will say I do not have a sign that advise mechanic shop but that is my next step.
