Employees not working when I'm not there
I own a business where we install data cable in office buildings. i've owned the business for 17 years and this has been a continual issue with employees. i went to a jobsite last week. when i arrived, i looked at our quickbooks time app (which is how employees login and out, geo tracks them at their location) and 2 guys were on the clock. One of the guys was sitting in his car with shorts on, the other was just walking around shooting the shit with people. Of course they see me and freak out, start coming up with excuses, etc. It's a damn cat and mouse game. I can't be watching them every minute of every day. Has anyone figured out a formula that keeps people working (think a contractor) when they're not being overseen on a daily basis?

Wife is forming an LLC - should I be added
Arkansas- My wife is starting an in home daycare business. However, she is awful with paper work and other managerial aspects. I, however am fairly competent so I have volunteered to help her out with this aspect. I do not expect to be paid for this, but she will be giving me fairly broad access into pretty much all operations outside of what actually occurs during daycare hours. Should I be added to the LLC? If so, should I be added as a member or a manager and what would be the difference? Finally, what tax implications would we be looking at? We planned on hiring her as an employee, would this be a good idea? What would the implications be for our personal taxes (filing jointly) if I were to be added to the LLC as either a member or manager? Thank you!

Does anyone have a customer support tool they really like?
Hey r/smallbusiness, I'm a small e-commerce business owner who's primarily doing customer support via email right now today. This has not been working for us and we're looking for something better for 30-100 customer support tickets per day. Does anyone have any recommendations?

Is giving employees fuel tax deductible?
My employees are required to haul heavy equipment with their personal vehicles, if I were to let them fuel up with the business account at the fueling station would that be tax deductible? Thanks in advance.

Invoicing Application Recommendations
Hey everyone. We are trying to switch from paper carbon copies over to digital invoicing. I'm trying to find one where I am able to customize the product fields. For example rather that quantity, description, and rate, etc. and be able to edit the labels and format them according to their type. Also one that also has a mobile app to accompany the desktop version and one that generates statements I can send to the customer on a monthly basis!

W9 question for payment via check
Hello another question. My BofA business account lists my full company name and has LLC at the end. Do I include this in my paperwork on the w9? So “The John Doe LLC” or is “The John Doe” what I put? I don’t want to get a check that says “The John Doe” and then I can’t deposit it cause its missing the LLC or vice versa.

I want to build a website portfolio, but I don't know where or how to get potential clients
Hello, everyone! I'm trying to build a portfolio of Wix websites so that I can become a Wix Partner, but I don't know where to find clients. I know Wix like the back of my hand, and I'm familiar with setting up their apps (ex. Wix Events, Wix Online Programs, Wix Blog, Wix Shop, Wix Bookings) and features (ex. automation, coupons, members area, live chat, subscriptions), design elements, SEO, etc. I tried Fiverr and Upwork, but there are way too many people on there already. Since I don't have any reviews on Fiverr or enough Connects to outbid other people on Upwork, it's difficult to get orders. I tried DMing people on Instagram, but I haven't been getting any replies. I don't have a website specifically for designing websites yet, but I plan on creating one when I have enough to create a portfolio. Does anyone have any advice on how or where to get clients? Or know any smaller, lesser-known freelancer sites? Any advice is appreciated. Thank you!

Merch for employees
I run a dental office, and I want to surprise the staff with a jacket or sweatshirt. I’d put our logo on it subtlety. For the ladies out there, what is a jacket you’d want to wear outside of work and around town? Lulu lemon? LL bean? I’d say 200 bucks is a limit per jacket or sweatshirt. Any input would be appreciated!
