The states that voted for President Biden in the 2020 election lost more jobs on average than states that voted for President Trump during the COVID-19 pandemic, data show. According to a FOX Business analysis of Bureau of Labor Statistics data, between February 2020 and March 2021 states that voted for Biden saw an average decline in nonfarm payrolls of about 5.3%, compared with roughly 2% among states that voted for Trump. The states that experienced the largest percentage of job losses over the specified time frame include Connecticut (-14.1%), Hawaii (-10.2%), Vermont (-9.1%), Maryland (-8.4%) and New Jersey (-7.4%). Each of these states voted for Biden in the election. Go to the link in our bio for more on this story.

What guaranteed income funds are worthwhile these days?

I have low 6-figures in cash that I want to park somewhere and preserve the money while hopefully getting some rate of return. The term would be anything up to 1-2 years but I'd prefer shorter terms so I can get out if need be. Risk tolerance is very very low. I have no plans to spend the money and it's not part of my rainy day monies. T-Bills seem like a waste of time due to the low rates but if that's all there is, oh well. The 1-year T-bill rate today is .06, no surprise but pretty depressing. That ciphers out to be hardly worth messing with. I can't convince myself that any muni bond is 'safe' but that might be because I haven't studied them in any detail.

Apple's new major iOS change lets you decide if you want brands to track you across apps. Everyone is opting out, and It's already crushing advertisers. https://t.co/Sir5O9UI3c

My photography business just will not get any traction, any advice?

I have a website, facebook page, and google business listing. So far all three of the shoots I have done have been the same customer. So I guess you could say I have 1 very loyal customer (whos is a friend) but that's it. Do I need to do facebook ads? I love photography and went to college for it but the business side has me lost.

Stickers

Yall I just got my first order of stickers from stickermule and... I'm disappointed. The quality isn't great, you can't even read my IG handle, and it's all grainy. And not that I'm complaining, but I ordered 10 and got 15- it just kind of makes it seem like they're not on top of things? I'm wondering if its user error causing the quality problems here... like do I have to resize my pictures or something? Idk. I got the 3x3 stickers, i suppose they're pretty small, but my drawing was very cartoony and simple so I thought it would be fine. Any advice?

Tips for handing the transition from SOHO?

I run a tree farm. It's me. My wife. Some casual high school kid labour. This year looks like total sales around 300K, total income (without paying us) of about 100K It's reaching the limit as to what we can do ourselves, but only at certain times. E.g. We need one person for 1/2 day a week for 4 weeks for mailouts. We need 1 person on weekends for 6 weeks who knows enough about trees to handle a sale. \*\*\* Generalizing the problem: How do you find people who are either such generalists that they can turn a hand to everything, or find people who know, or are willing to learn lots of stuff for short term gigs?

Food Business

I am thinking for starting a small food based business in BC, Canada. I want to operate it from my home as it’ll be side business for now and then I’ll make it my full time work. I already have a food safe level 1 and I’m going to update it to food safe level 2. I was wondering if I need any permits? I understand that restaurants need one. I’ve been trying to find it but I cannot find much information. I’d very much like your advice and insight for this.

Advertising tax question

Not sure this is the right sub buuut... Let's say I sell business signs as an LLC. I give customers discounts on the signs if I can put my logo very small in a corner for advertising purposes. If I gave a 50% discount for advertising, would I then be able to write off the other 50% of the job as an advertising write off? Or is that tax fraud? Thanks in advance!

Opinion: Elon Musk’s space triumph has followed a classic Silicon Valley arc. It involved a time-tested strategy: ride on the back of government-funded research, while using government as the anchor customer to fund the development of a new market https://t.co/HaBsS0Okih
