Tulsa’s Black district, Greenwood thrived as the epicenter of African American business and culture for the early part of the 20th century. Greenwood Avenue, commonly known as Black Wall Street featured thriving Black-owned shops, restaurants, movie theaters and other small businesses, as well as schools, a hospital and a library. On May 31, 1921, the Greenwood district was attacked by a white mob, resulting in two days of bloodshed and destruction. The massacre left hundreds of Black residents dead and 1,000 houses destroyed. The Greenwood District still exists today but after decades of urban renewal and integration, the area’s demographics and businesses resemble little of its storied past. Tulsa Burning: The 1921 Race Massacre premieres Sunday, May 30 at 8pm. #RememberTulsa

We aren’t entirely 'made of stardust'. About 9.5% of the mass of the average human body is made up of hydrogen atoms that are older than the stars, formed in the Big Bang 13.8 billion years ago.
