Where to look for businesses to purchase

Hello, I am at a turning point in life/career and would like to stop being a worker and start being an owner. I have started my own businesses before, (some successful, some not) but I don’t want to do the “startup” thing this time. I would like to look into various areas across the country to see if I can find a few established businesses that I could just buy and then manage. My question is where do I look to find businesses that are for sale? I know sites like CL have postings but I don’t feel those are legitimate most often and I don’t want to waste my time or energy when there might be a better source. I’m not looking for a specific business / industry to acquire, mostly I am looking for good opportunities whatever they may be. Thank you.

1. I own a labor business. 2. Customer owns multiple franchises. Customer wants work done at 20 different locations, but doesn’t want it contracted. He wants me to bill him AFTER each job. I’m confused because he doesn’t want a contract, but doesn’t want to sign before each job as-well. I told him the best I can do is write a large estimate consisting of a price for each separate location. I’d have the terms set so he could cancel at any time, and also set so if we do work, we would be payed. Am I thinking right? Because there’s no way in hell i’m doing work without a written and signed agreement that we would be payed. Any thoughts?

looking to approach local game stores for retail space

Just like the title says, I have a large inventory of dice bags and other hand made gaming accessories to sell. There are several local game shops in my area. What is the best way to contact them to potentially have them sell my stuff either on consignment or just get a space on a shelf? Like my idea is to just walk in and ask if they want to see my product. Any advice?
