Prospective CPA is asking for bank and credit card statements + last years tax return to quote me a price. Is this standard practice?

I’m searching for an accounting firm / CPA to handle my books/accounting, payroll, and tax planning. They said they’ll give me a price quote only after submitting the aforementioned documents. This seems a little iffy but I’m not sure if standard practice. Should I be involving a NDA at all?

Bringing on our first and only full time employee to our small business, any advice?

We (spouse and I) own a small business and are needing to bring on a full time employee for the first time.. which for the business means paying more taxes and means establishing an official HR, payroll, benefits etc. My Quickbooks skills are no match, any services that offer this and maybe perhaps bookkeeping too? Anyone with similar experiences or lessons learned? Thanks

how does a business owner get in the mindset of leading and delegating(rather than micromanaging)?

I assume a business owner trusts his processes, and trusts his key people (his top employee, his accountant, his marketing firm or freelancers). How does a business owner focus solely on leading, and delegating?

Is debt the way to go or not?

I'm super confused about debt financing as oppose to equity financing. Capchase recently raised a 125 million dollar Series A This follows raises by [Pipe](https://pipe.com/) ( $250 million) [Clearco](https://clear.co/) ($100 million) [Settle](https://www.settle.com/) ($15 million) [Finley](https://www.finleycms.com/) has also raised, joined companies like [Fundstory](https://fundstory.com/) in making debt financing more accessible and manageable These raises came after research and conclusions by VC firms that there is a huge market in Debt Financing going forward. However, the online sentiment seems to be pretty anti debt financing. I don't know if the negative vibes are coming from people who have never accessed debt, or from people who have and had a bad experience in that raise. What I want to know is: Why does debt financing get bad-mouthed by people, but VCs seem to think there's a future there, what is the disconnect?

City will be forcing my business to relocate

Hi all! So like the title says, in probably a year or so I’ll be forced to relocate my business. The reason for the move is the city (LA) wants to use my block and surrounding others as a train station for the olympics when it comes to LA. So a couple things with that: 1. I’m currently in the process of filing for chapter 7 personal bankruptcy. I own the business 100%. My concern is let’s say I do have to move, but when that time comes, nobody will take me as a tenant because of my personal record. Is that a valid concern? 2. Other businesses in the same situation and area I talk to say “we’re gonna get paid by the city”. Which, nobody can seem to give any dollar amount or anything for that matter. Other than just saying “we’ll get paid”. Has anybody been in a situation like this? Or similar?

I need to fire my CPA and find a new one

I’ve been using the same CPA for a few years but they keep making dumb mistakes, like screwing up my routing number on my tax forms, not letting me know when to file other forms, not telling us when we had to pay fees, etc. - I’m done. I’m not asking for a specific person recommendation, but I’d like to know how to find a CPA who specializes in small businesses. Are there certain questions I should be asking? Is there a specific type of CPA for different industries?

How do you deal with the guilt of things going wrong or that you’re not investing enough time in your business?

I’d really just like some advice as I feel a bit like I’m burning myself out. I started a crystal business earlier this year, and it took off much better than I ever expected & I feel super proud of myself But when things go wrong, like this week I had an expensive piece arrive broken even after wrapping so carefully, and I feel so guilty and obsessed over something going wrong, it almost consumes me like I can’t move past my mistakes. I also have spent everyday working on my shop since I opened & packaging orders, but if I take time for myself I still can’t stop the guilt seeping in that I should be working, and I’m being a failure. How do you stop these feelings? Is it common or am I going crazy?
