Elon Musk’s satellite network Starlink is on track to beam broadband internet everywhere in the world except polar regions by August. SpaceX has launched more than 1,500 satellites so far and has operations in about a dozen countries, Musk said during a presentation at the Mobile World Congress conference. The project aims to offer broadband to as much as 5% of the world’s population where conventional fiber and wireless networks can’t reach. Musk said he’s signed two deals with “major country” telecom operators but he couldn’t name them yet, and he’s in discussions with more. How to respond without being a jerk?

Last week I billed a client ("Bruce") who in turn passed the bill to his client ("Karen"). Karen paid the invoice. "Bruce" says his wife saw the invoice on his desk and paid it too. I only have one deposit, and it's from Karen. I've reconciled the account. Every single darn transaction is matched with a receipt or a check. There is only the 1 transaction in the last 6 months that matches the amount of this invoice and let Bruce know. Karen just emailed to remind me, and CC'd Bruce that the invoice was paid twice and we need to refund Bruce. How do I politely handle this?

President Biden traveled to La Crosse, Wisconsin Tuesday to drum up support for a bipartisan infrastructure deal reached last week that he touted will only raise taxes on those earning more than $400,000. "We’re going to get it all done without raising taxes on a single American making less than $400,000," Biden said. "Now all of you making over $400,000, I love you. But I don’t mind a little bit if your taxes go up a little bit." The president said that his pledge not to raise taxes on those earning less than the $400,000 threshold meant that there would be no increase to the gas tax, a proposal a group of lawmakers had brought forward to pay for the infrastructure deal. I spoke to someone recently and was informed that the website indicating amount confirmed does not mean the loan increase has been approved. I’ve seen no updates nor movements from them since April. 🤷🏻‍♂️

Thinking of transferring operation of my business to someone else and taking a percentage?

I started a carpet cleaning business two years ago- I’ve maintained pretty consistent numbers and a decent base of loyal customers. I’ve been venturing into other things lately and the carpet business is becoming a back burner project that I no longer want to invest time in. I thought about selling all the equipment and getting rid of it all together but am hesitant to throw out what I’ve built. I have considered hiring someone to do the jobs while I schedule and pay for advertising, while taking… I don’t know, 25%-50%? This way I’m making passive income on my investments, while giving someone the chance to make a more than decent wage. Am I being unrealistic or greedy? Is this a feasible option?

Consumer confidence increased for a fifth straight month in June and returned to levels last seen before the onset of the COVID-19 pandemic. The Consumer Confidence Index this month rose 7.3 points to 127.3, the highest since February 2020, The Conference Board said on Tuesday. The Present Situation Index, which is based on consumers’ assessment of current business conditions and the labor market, increased to 157.7 from 148.7 last month. The Expectations Index, which measures consumers’ short-term outlook for income, business and the job market, jumped to 107.0 from 100.9 the prior month. Sales and Use tax in Idaho- help

I own a small farmers market booth in my state, and it ran last year for a few months and I paid the taxes for that period. However I just got a letter in the mail saying I am deficient by $200 for sales and use tax for a period in March. I have not been running my business since last August, how can I avoid this tax for this year? I will not be running my farmers market booth at all this year.

Accepting crypto payments

Does anyone here accept crypto payments? Is there a 3rd party service that makes it an easy process (accepts most coins, easy conversion, etc)? Thinking about adding this option.

Online businesses that have customer support

Can we get a list together of online businesses that have live support? I know that God fordbid they have a listed phone number but I would throw my business behind anyone that had dedicated support. Completely unrelated but how the hell do I stop Squarespace from owning my work email? They say contact Google. Google says contact square space. What a nightmare

Retail POS with integrated field service management?

I do IT for a for a gas fireplace/grill shop. We have a retail storefront that we sell through. So I need a system that both has a normal retail POS and inventory system but will also allow us to schedule the jobs that we are installing. We currently use RB control systems which does technically do everything we need its just very clucky and we have had a lot of issues. Odoo is the most promising thing I have found so far but it sounds like the QuickBooks integration is very expensive. I would really like something web based if possible. Any ideas?
