How long did you think about starting your business before you did? What held you back?
Really anxious to start a business with my husband. We have our idea/plans. We just don’t know when to pull the trigger. We need about $30k in start up but don’t want to blow our savings at this point. We’ve only been thinking about it the last few months. When did you jump in?

Advice for approaching other small businesses to carry your product
I run a small online business selling hand made gaming dice bags and other accessories for tabletop dungeons and dragons and the like. I'm thinking about going around to some local gaming stores and seeing if they would be interested in having my stuff in their stores either on consignment or trial basis. Is there any advice you can give me financially, contractually, or otherwise? Thank you in advance!

How viable is my plan to open up a shop shopify/Instagram store selling niche products?
The hardest part is definitely decided what to sell of course. I really don't want to resell merchandise from Aliexpress etc.

Free work? Worth it?
Hello, So I launched a business in a growing field. I recently found what could be a large project opportunity that would give me some solid experience and possible a great review and data to market with. Would it be worth doing a project worth probably 1500$-2000$ for free if I am confident I could market off it?

Paying Employees per Project
If someone is classified as a part-time employee, can I pay them per project or am I required to pay them hourly? Context: I made a previous post regarding contractors and I’m taking some of that advice and looking into hiring employees. The work would still be per project and I would prefer to pay that way instead of an hourly rate. Social short movie
Think about a mobile app where there is a small movie-like script divided to small sub-scripts that anyone can pick any part and record that part. When completed, there will be a short movie casted by total strangers and you can play and watch. Example: 1. Man enters the house, closes the door and hear a weird voice downstairs 2.when the man walks the downstairs, he sees a strange picture of himself but older. Man gets scared 3.... So I choose 1st action and shoot and upload, someone else shoots 2nd etc. People can also vote and choose best scenes etc. Talents can also shine. Social short movie. What do you think?

Sometimes it is better NOT to build a new website
I recently had an interaction with a client about possibly building a new website. Their site was several years old, and they were thinking maybe it’s time for something new. While I would profit from this new site, I told them no, let’s leave the old site up and running for a while longer. [Advice Needed] Sourcing Firms to Manufacturer a Needed Piece of Machinery?
Hello /r/smallbusiness I'm trying to start-up a small business specializing in sorting small plastic parts in various sizes and colors. I have tried to reach-out directly to firms that engineer or offer consultation to custom-make/engineer a piece of machinery to help with efficiency but I seem to not be getting anywhere. Every time I try to follow-up, I seem to be at 'square-one' again and get ghosted. Not sure if anyone has faced this issue before? Not sure if the size of my operations (literally doing this by hand out of my garage and need the help) is getting me ghosted because I am not a large sized firm where companies would pursue my interest. Any advice to help point me in the right direction would help.
