On Amazon, the Spangler Candy Company sells 400-packs of its own Dum Dums lollipops for $26 a pop. So when other sellers started undercutting them, e-commerce boss Mitchell Owens took notice. Owens had stumbled on a drop-shipping scheme, a twist on a long-standing version of retail arbitrage. The hustle works something like this: Sellers scour the internet for products listed at lower prices than on Amazon. They then post the items on Amazon themselves. When an order is placed, they buy the product from another retailer, have it shipped directly to the customer, and pocket the difference — all without ever touching the merchandise. Spangler says its been left millions of dollars out of pocket in lost business and legal fees. But while schemes like these violate Amazon policy, perpetrators are betting they won't be spotted in the clutter of its vast online store. Tap the link in our bio to read in full.

It’s a pitch that’s lured thousands of Chinese over the past decade, helping to reshape Portugal’s urban landscape amid a tide of new money. But eight years on, that wave is drying up. It’s not for lack of demand. In fact, more wealthy Chinese are trying to leave as Covid Zero dents economic growth. But governments on both sides have become more hostile to golden visas, endangering similar programs continent-wide. Read in full at the link in our bio.
