Would now be a bad time to open a shop to sell specialty cakes and hold decorating classes?
My gf is an extremely talented cake decorator, most of the specialty cakes she does are between $400-1000 and she is busy 6 days a week sometimes making profits for someone else for the past 20 years. She is considering opening her own shop where she would decorate cakes for herself as well as hold decorating classes for adults and some kids classes as well. Her overhead would be fairly low since she would be ordering the cakes from a local shop and decorate them in her shop. She makes very good stable money now but is tired of working 11-12 hour days for someone else while they make the majority of the profit. Does this sound like a decent business idea? With a good location can this be successful with COVID going on? The place where she works is busy from open till close most days. Any ideas or suggestions would be greatly appreciated

I’ve got $50,000, four free hours a day, and I want to build a business that’s got a very high chance of success. What should I do?
Hi, all. There was a post earlier today about a guy who had $50,000, could spend four hours a day working, and wanted to build something that would bring in a couple thousand every month. I’m in a similar situation—I have about $50,000 to start with, and four free hours every day to use—and I’d like to see a similar income in a few years. The only difference is I want to spend my time building something safe—something with a very high probability of success. I’m happy making a smaller monthly income if it means the initiative has a higher chance of working out. Any ideas? Any successes you’ve had? I’d love to hear.

Help with Running Google Ads.
Hi all, I've been running Google ads for awhile now, and I have some success, but it's honestly a lot of trial and error. I really have no idea what I'm doing. I'm sure I'm not maximizing the most bang for my buck. I have a small operation, so I can't afford an agency yet. Is there a book, resource, guide or anything really, to help navigate me? Or at the very least, if you guys can share any tips or tricks that have helped you, I would love to learn. TIA.

Considering Buying a Small Business but Everyone is Shady?
So I've reached out to a few brokers/business owners because I'm interested in buying business. But from what I gather, it seems pretty common for people to either under report Revenue (if it's a cash business, they just take the cash and spend it without ever putting it in their bank account) or over report expenses (I guess they charge personal expenses that could make a borderline argument that it's business related) to lower their taxable income. Is this really common? If so, how would you go about doing assessing the business?

You don’t really need a long business plan?
Hello r/smallbusiness. I’m in the beginning funding stages of my business and I’ve spent the past 48 hours working on a viable business plan. An associate of mine owns a business worth $250k and after I told him my plan was 7 pages long, he told me that that is too long and that banks don’t really need for the plan to be that long as they’ll mostly skip over it and just want the business idea condensed and summarized. What are your thoughts on this? Should it be shorter for pitching purposes?
