Should I join the BBB, and Chamber of Commerce?

I'm a startup business without any employees, and I'm just wondering if people think it's worth it to join the BBB and Chamber of Commerce. Basically I just get listed on their website, and get to put a logo on my site. It's 300 for the BBB, and 200 for the COC per year. I would get my business listed in their CoC directory book as well, and I think a one time post on their facebook page. I haven't gotten many leads yet, so am debating whether to spend it on this, or traditional advertising.

Thinking of starting a job board SPECIFICALLY for part time jobs in start-ups

Thoughts? People with good skills can quickly just join a startup and get to work. I am thinking temporary part time work

Looking for a push in the right direction

Hello! I am a small business owner, I sell on Etsy & in the spring I decided I would start vending at a local craft fair, and I assumed I needed a vendors license. I am very limited in knowledge about taxes and business nitty gritty. I have made less than $3,000 so far this year (if it matters) so it really is, a small, slow business. Anyway - I applied & paid for the vendors license although I had no clue what I was quite doing. Today I got a letter in the mail from state taxes about owing a huge chunk of change and I am so confused, kinda scared. I am awful at understanding information online & really would like to talk to someone in person about what I need to be doing legally. My question is, do I contact a lawyer? Tax professional? Attorney? Who can I speak with to dumb this down and help me better understand what exactly I am doing here. Thank you in advanced, pray for me hahaha

Looking to hire first employee - do you need to offer healthcare?

I own a video production business and I’ve been a one man band since 2013. It’s getting to the point where I’m outsourcing enough things and bringing on enough 1099 contractors that I might as well hire my first employee. I’ve always been afraid to do that because I’d need to pay a salary to myself and the employee. How do you approach healthcare and benefits? Is it inappropriate to not offer healthcare but perhaps offer a stipend or bonus on top of the salary? What are the first steps to even figure out what that would look like?

Selling ideas

Hello, so i found an interest in project development, been gathering ideas for sometime. but i am not experienced.... was thinking to start small, to sell smaller ideas first until i can become better at it.. but the thing is, i don't even know how to reach the right people.. i invented a sports gadget, searched online to find some companies, but all i found where just shops, some names but no responses... nothing that could lead me to the source ... so my question is for any project developer out there.. how do you go about finding a company; and how do you know they are legit; if so.. they can sign some papers, or involve a lawyer.. when giving a demonstration of your idea, do you travel to that destination? or do you do it via skype, or just send a demo? Thanks

The qualities that make CEOs look good to boards have little to do with what actually makes them successful in the role. https://t.co/Pwflsd90rp

Is it unusual for a business to have one POS provider for their brick-and-mortar store and a different one for their online store?

I'm building a website for a client through Shopify. Because both the physical and online stores sell vapes, the options for POS are limited. The provider they use for the physical store is not on Shopify's list of providers. However, there is an alternative they can use. I've never had to set up a POS system, so I don't know what kinds of payments or contracts are involved. Would my client have to switch over to the Shopify-compatible provider? Can a business use more than one? And if so, is doing something like this usually considered practical? Any input is appreciated, thank you.

Should i trademark my business name?

Hi all. I'm finally at the point in my business where i can finally start. (home bakery. had to get all the nesscessary tools, equipment, website etc) I am trying to figure out if it is necessary to get a trademark for my business name to protect it? I want to get stamps with my business name and logo on it, but i'm afraid that someone might take my business name and then my stamps can't be used... any advice is appreciated! :)
