Jeremy Grantham, co-founder of an asset manager that's known for calling market bubbles, says the “super bubble” he previously warned about has yet to pop, even after this year’s turbulence in the US stock market. The surge in US equities from mid-June to mid-August fits the pattern of bear market rallies common after an initial sharp decline — and before the economy truly begins to deteriorate, he said in a note. Grantham sees more trouble ahead because of a “dangerous mix” of overvalued stocks, bonds and housing, combined with a commodity shock and hawkishness from the Federal Reserve. Workers spend a lot of time toggling between apps and websites to do their jobs. But how often do we really do this, and how much times does it really take up? A recent study of 20 teams, totaling 137 users across three Fortune 500 companies, found workers toggled roughly 1,200 times each day. This simple action accounted for just under four hours each week — roughly 9% of their time at work. While many companies may write this off as the cost of doing business in a digital environment, more often it’s an active choice that companies and managers are making about how work is done and the programs that are used to do it. To find out how managers can fix this pernicious workplace problem, tap the link in our bio to read the full article. TL;DR- issue with people congregating for hours at my small furniture business.
So I am having an issue with my store (brick and mortar family run furniture business) involving people just dropping in (friends, associates, locals, old vendors) and hanging out at my desk/counter area which is also where I do multiple business transactions. These people will stay all day and chat with each other, chat with me, chat with anyone who will listen. A few times would be fine and even be seen fine and I do enjoy their company if it were not an ongoing multiple hour long series of diatribes, but staying hours on end it is becoming an issue as it is interfering with me doing work I normally reserve when the store is not busy which means I have to so this work later during time I would like to dedicate to other endeavors. I hope not to sound hateful and whiny, but any advice on handling this and ways to limit it without hurting feelings or alienating others would be appreciated.
