Hey CPAs and Bookkeepers - What businesses do really well that your average person never thinks of?
Inspired by the thread about coffee shop revenue per day. I saw a CPA mention that restaurants are a great way to lose all your money. So based on your behind the scenes experience of seeing actual numbers, what small businesses do really well that you'd recommend someone consider starting?

Creating a sale model that is not an MLM
I want to start a business selling jewelry. Selling online means competing on price, which I do not want to do. The beauty of jewelry is best experienced in person. I am considering creating a network of individuals who would sell for me and would get a commission. I don't want this to be an MLM, though. So there would be no incentive to recruit a new salesperson. Sales reps would only earn through sales. How do I recruit individuals who are interested in selling? I will supply them with the jewelry but I can't make them pay all the money upfront (at least not initially). What's a way to ensure I get sales reps but they don't run off with my jewelry? Looking for advice. This is my first time ever trying to do business.

Signed 3 year lease, found out after city denied business license. What next?
In WA. Have a lease signed. Then 2 months later the city got around to denying my business license. The reason given is zoning. Our business isn't explicitly permitted or forbidden in the city code. Evidently we do some manufacturing that is not "retail" or "business services" enough for downtown. So I need to move. Wondering what the best steps are to take with the current landlord. He is pretty reasonable, and he hates the city (he hates all government) so I think he would possibly negotiate a termination. If he wants to make this a court case, can I legally argue the impossibility of performance or frustration of purpose? The lease has a Force Mejure clause, but unsure if government intervention counts. Any advice is appreciated. I am already aware of what could have been done differently in the past. I am also here in the future with you.
