Benefits of Being a Woman-Owned Business
My wife and I have been rubbing a craft business on the side for a few years now. Next year we plan to incorporate as an S-Corp. We're considering designation her as the owner as we've seen there are more loan/grant opportunities for woman-owned small businesses. Has anyone else had any experience structuring their business like this? What are the ups and downs?

need help! new small business owner
so i run a small online shop and ive have a couple of orders so far, but i recently ran into a problem. it seems that someone wrote their address incorrectly and the package got sent back. the money i spent for the postage cannot be refunded, im not really sure what to do in this situation. the customer said the address is 100% accurate. should i spend money out-of-pocket to resend it? ask the customer to pay for another postage? refund the whole thing? since the buyer said there is no problem with the address and even checked the pdf of the label i have to risk losing money again if i choose to send with money out-of-pocket. please help, need advice

Considering Dental and Vision Plans
We own a very small construction business. Today a prospective employee asked about dental insurance. I’d like to look into this because workers in our trade usually don’t have this offering. Any ideas where I can start to dive into this for more information?

Should you offer free services for a testimonial/review when starting your business?
Hi, all! I’m about to graduate from college as a hypnotherapist. Recently I started getting contacted by a lot of people wanting to be my “genie pig” to get a free session. I know some who have graduated from my program have offered one free session if the person is willing to write a testimonial afterwards. I intended on building an online website and was wondering if offering sessions for free is a good idea for exposure? Thanks so much!

Can you put pre-LLC costs on the balance sheet?
If I already spent money towards a project, before incorporating as an LLC, is it possible to put those costs on the LLC balance sheet? Would it be a problem if payment came from my personal credit card? Since of course there's no business account yet. I'd like to use the costs to offset future profits, but to my mind, that can only happen if the payments come from the company account. Is that true? I'm incorporating as a 1-member LLC. So the LLC's taxes will be filed with my personal ones.

DBA or Trademark
Hey everyone, I have a question or situation I guess. I have a corporation for consultant. Which is what I used when I was doing Credentialing for doctors. It states “Any and all lawful business” I have recently ventured out to other projects and have established a brand I guess you can say. My consultant company is the one with the EIN number. I am creating items and selling under my brand name. So my question is can I add my brand name as a DBA to my already established corp? Should I trademark my brand name? Or do I just open a whole other corporation? Or am I even on the correct wavelength here? Lol please help! Thank you all!

Small Business + Tax Question - I need some help.
I’m really needing advice as I am getting very anxious as tax season approaches. I started a small business in January making engagement rings. I use a stone supplier + manufacturer. I initially started with just making rings for friends, and not charging anything for profit. I registered and EIN but didn’t register for anything else as I wasn’t really making money, just making rings for my friends. This was in Oklahoma. I have since moved to California and made my first two actual sales. I netted about $1000. After expenses, about $400 in profit. I want to get all of my legal ducks in a row and continue business in California. I work on a very small scale (obviously if my first profitable sale is in December lol) but hope to grow. Just don’t want to shoot myself in the foot before I’m able to take off. Thank you for any advice!

Reaching the right customers
Does anyone have any tips on reaching growing businesses that need warehousing and fulfillment? I’ve been able to help quite a few companies find third party solution, but I would still like advice on how to reach more people. Always looking to improve our business. Thanks in advance! Happy holidays!

W-9 Help
I need to fill out a W-9 for a client. My company is set-up as a single member LLC but I am a disregarded entity for tax purposes. The W-9 instructions say the following: *"If you are a single-member LLC that is disregarded as an entity separate from its owner, enter the owner’s SSN* ***(or EIN, if the owner has one***\*). Do not enter the disregarded entity’s EIN. If the LLC is classified as a corporation or partnership, enter the entity’s EIN."\* My LLC has an EIN and based on the instructions I shouldn't use that but I can't figure out how to get an EIN as an individual. I don't really want to have my SSN floating around more than I have to. Any advice? Thanks in advance!

Professional Services Software recommendations?
Hi - I'm a smallish business, about 20 employees and a couple contractors. We need help connecting our hours (Harvest) to our revenue per project, and our understanding more about how our new biz pipeline will impact our capacity down the road (service-based company, typically only project based work with a couple retainer clients). Anyone have any recommendations? Gotta get out of this excel craziness.
