More than one friend of mine has gone to bike protests in Chicago dressed in bike kit and as a result was snubbed by people who they came to stand in solidarity with and I would like to know why their (or my) lives and activism are worth less just bc they’re in spandex

also sorry but “we’re just normal people riding our bikes we’re not trying to win the Tour de France” rhetoric doesn’t hold water. I work with guys who have won the Tour or stages of the Tour and they also ride bikes to the store or to pick up their kids from school!
