The dahlias in the breeding fields are just starting to bloom and I picked the first handful of Firefly this week. Sheβs even sweeter than I remember! Iβm feeling a little nervous about this part of the season since we have over 200 varieties of dahlias that need to be evaluated, graded, photographed, written about, cataloguedβ¦. Itβs a huge project! And that doesnβt include any of the zinnias or celosia in the hoops. Iβm scrambling to get all of my other responsibilities taken care of because once these guys start flowering itβs going to be a full time job just keeping up. Reminds me a little of the process of making Discovering Dahlias, but more exciting since all of the varieties were bred here on our farm! #discoveringdahlias #ayearinflowers #dahlias #floretseeds

Harvesting garden roses this morning for tomorrowβs floral design class. I like to pick them a day before the class so they have time to hydrate and rest in a cooler overnight. Incredibly thankful the first flush is going strong and available for a design class!! #flirtyfleursgarden
