More than 100,000 people have signed a petition to have West Ham footballer Kurt Zouma prosecuted and his animals rehomed after video footage emerged of the defender drop-kicking and slapping his cat. Zouma was heavily criticised after the footage emerged, as well as being booed as he featured last night for his club against Watford. West Ham and the RSPCA have also roundly condemned his actions, which were shared online by a friend. A statement from the RSPCA on today read: "Two cats now in RSPCA care. "Our priority is and has always been the well-being of these cats. Been taken for a check-up at the vets and will remain in our care while the investigation continues. We're grateful to everyone who expressed their concern for these cats. "We were dealing with this issue before the video went viral online and are leading the investigation. We continue to investigate so we cannot comment further at this time."
