Staring into the volcanic caldera of Ushishir - a collection of two islands that make a eponymous partially submerged volcano. It’s located in the center of the Kuril chain in the sea of Okhotsk. The steam rising out of the left side of the frame shows the hot spring beach that is just nearby our camp we made. This moment (right here) was a very surreal one.. after a few years of planning and staring at these islands on maps and screens it was totally an out of body experience to finally be here and stare into this caldera on a windless and near perfect day.

Did you know a Dalmatian pelican's yellow bill turns a crimson red colour during breeding season? This is due to a change in their hormones which affect pigmentation. #EarthCapture by emmahealeyphotography . . . . #DalmatianPelicans #Pelicans #BirdsOfInstagram #Birds #BirdPhotography #Birdwatching

Healing is weird. Some days you’re okay and you’re doing just fine. Other days it hurts like it’s fresh. It’s a process with no definite time frame. You just have to keep going and know that when is all said and done You’re going to be okay. Unknown

Fast, maneuverable, and dangerous, the trireme was the most feared ship in ancient Greece https://t.co/miGp4CMBFD
