"No one seems to have a good grasp on what AOC wants to do next. But her ability to raise lots of money very quickly means there is very little that is out of her reach, politically speaking," writes @ChrisCillizza https://t.co/eWnEIhsams

President Joe Biden honored the 500,000 Americans who have died from Covid-19, participating in a moment of silence on Monday as he stood by 500 lighted candles outside the White House. He was joined by first lady Jill Biden, Vice President Kamala Harris and second gentleman Doug Emhoff. "We ask you to join us to remember. So we can heal. To find purpose, and the work ahead to show that there is light in the darkness," Biden said. "This nation will smile again. This nation will know sunny days again. This nation will know joy again." For the first time in its 130-year history, Wyoming has a Black sheriff. Aaron Appelhans has taken charge of the Albany County Sheriff's Office. "You don't see a whole lot of African Americans in law enforcement," Appelhans told CNN. "So, I'm trying to overcome that roadblock of taking a non-traditional career path and affect change within my community." One reason it took so long to appoint a Black sheriff, according to the president of the Wyoming NAACP, Stephen Latham, is the state's small Black population. Blacks make up 1.3% of the state's population, while Whites make up 92.5%, according to the US Census Bureau. (📸: Mead Gruver/AP)

Martin Gugino, the 75-year-old protester who was knocked to the ground by police officers last year in Buffalo, New York, filed a civil lawsuit against the city Monday, according to court documents. Gugino is also suing the Buffalo mayor, three officers, the police commissioner and the deputy police commissioner, according to the document. Gugino, who fractured his skull when he fell, is accusing the defendants of violating his constitutional rights, specifically his rights to freedom of speech, peaceful assembly, protest, movement, unreasonable seizures, freedom from the unlawful use of force by government agents, and due process of law, according to his lawsuit. CNN has reached out to the mayor's office and Buffalo Police Department for comment on the lawsuit. (📸: mikedesmondwbfo/Twitter)

The principal chief of the Cherokee Nation has asked Jeep to stop using the tribe's name on its SUVs — which the brand has been using for about 45 years. The Jeep Grand Cherokee is the brand’s best-selling model and the Jeep Cherokee is its third best-selling. “I'm sure this comes from a place that is well-intended, but it does not honor us by having our name plastered on the side of a car," Chuck Hoskin, Jr., principal chief of the Cherokee Nation said. Jeep said they are committed to a respectful and open dialogue with Hoskin. (📸: FCA)

Tuesday marks one year since 25-year-old Ahmaud Arbery died after being chased and shot by Gregory and Travis McMichael as he jogged through a coastal Georgia neighborhood. The McMichaels, who were charged in his murder, still have no trial date. But Arbery’s mother, Wanda Cooper-Jones, remains confident they will be convicted. "It gives me a little push that I have to remain strong and keep my mind in good sanity," Cooper-Jones said. "I want to be around when justice is served." Arbery's death, which didn't gain national attention until two months after it happened, sparked outrage across the nation. It became yet another example of the many perils visited on Black people engaged in ordinary activities, particularly after a disturbing video of the shooting emerged. Golf legend Tiger Woods has non-life-threatening injuries after a single-vehicle rollover crash near Los Angeles, an LA law enforcement source says. Following the crash Tuesday morning, Tiger Woods was conscious when rescuers arrived and placed into a medical collar for stabilization. The golfer suffered serious injuries to both legs, LA County Fire Chief Daryl Osby said at a news conference. The LA County Sheriff's Department initially said Woods was cut from his vehicle using the Jaws of Life. It has since said that is not the case. This post has been updated to reflect that. (📸: Ezra Shaw/Getty Images and Wally Skalij/Los Angeles Times/Shutterstock)
